In this part you are going to see how the distributor is being reassembled. After disassembling it and washing it in the ultrasonic bath protect the unit from the dust before you reassemble it. When reassembling the unit be sure to lubricate the o-rings with WD-40 or some oil as well as the lower part of the barrel in order for the chambers to connect them again and not to damage them. And again I must stress this - I DON'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGE ON YOUR CAR. What am I talking about?
My topic is the KE-Jetronic injection system which I try to demystify as much as I can.
For all of you to understand the system in brief - Developed in 1973 and being mounted into cars up to 1993 as it went in history. But why these to letters!?(KE) K(from German "kontinuierlich" meaning continuos, without interruption) the MECHANICAL injection system on which the fuel starts flowing from the fuel tank sucked by the FUEL PUMP and delivered to the FUEL DISTRIBUTOR which sends fuel to the INJECTORS while the majority of it flows through the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR through its return line back to the fuel tank again. The letter E(electronic) has to mark the electronic sensors (the developement starting from early eighties) which had to inform the ECU about the current state of the engine so that the ECU(Electronic Control Unit) then could create current signal in mAmp(miliampers) and send it to four crucial components for the system - the EHA(the electro-hydraulic actuator,a unit consisting of a magnet, an electromagnet and a baffle plate) which had to fine tune the engine in each of its phases, the ICV(the idle control valve), the unit which was predicted for the engines perfect idle, the X11(the diagnostic socket) where the duty cycle(the ideal mixture) was adjusted and the X11/4(the code reader) - the socket which from any codes were read if present using an OBD1 scanner.
An extraordinary injection system which could be fully repaired in your own garage using a multimeter and a pressure gauge only for its fine tuning, together with some common tools.

I made it! My W124 turns on in 1 second now! It was the OVP relay... I'm so happy now

Glad to hear that! I told you you are going to solve the problem! Bravo, amico mio! Luckly I didn't have that issue, but everything I know about that is that your ABS light is on when the OVP is bad.

3:00 an easy way install the metal rings is with electric/vinyl tape. put the filter in place, then wrap tape around the metering barrel a few times. you can then slide the rings on without worrying about scratching/damaging. the extra 1mm of diameter makes the ring go onto the plastic easy, and you can get them very tight. i also wrapped the filter with tape to prevent accidental damage👍

I want to say big thank u,, i have been watching the videos several weeks now,, and decided to deassemble and clean and reasemble mine,, i have the video playing while doing,, so it felt like we were working together, I have installed back as yet as i want to go further ans clean the air filter plate thing, ( when i out myself and wipe inside its muky.. Also i didnt have a way to measure like u did in the beginning and now i fully understand why u say that step is important,, i didn't have anything to use am measures, but with the knowledge i have niw thanks to u,, i would just remove the bolt with the middle insert that way when i fit up, i would of to worry about the measurement.. I just did mine at an unknown measurement that i think should be good enough.. Hopefully it works.

What are the most common failures on this systems ? I imagine the Diagphragme but others ?

It comes to failures only when someone messes up with the unit. If you don't touch it and drive the car regularly, then there are none so to speak. The only thing is ethanol in fuel. It can destroy the diaphragm. If you are not first owner of the car and your car runs beautifully you have no reason to touch the unit. An increased consumption - well, yes, but there are many other things that should be checked at first!

Great step by step videos, thanks for posting them. Will be doing this job on the KE Jetronic unit out of my Escort RS Turbo shortly so will be re-watching them several times before I begin. Quick question, what should the running fuel pressure of a good unit be? Mine flickers rapidly between 2.5 and 3.25 bar which is too low and way to erratic.

Zdravo drugare,hocu da te pitam nesto za ke - jetronica Audi 2.3,kad pokrenem kljuc na kontakt dizne se cuje kao da auto ide 260 km,i posle nema sance da ga upalim jer pusta mnogo benzina bez verglanje,a ne treba ni 1 mililtar da dizne cure bez verglanje,hfala

There is nothing that can be replaced only to use "less aggressive" fuel with as less ethanol as possible.

The new kits come out with different types of rubber compounds, apparently they’re not affected by ethanol

Thanks for this!!!!!! i dessasembly and reassembly a thousand times and thanks u I could finsh it. I`ve a question about the nut, it must be on 0,06 mm? and what about the o´ring for the fuel distributor placed on the base of zonda plate? how long must lenght? becouse I try (with 6 cilinder) on 1st time with 0,06 and didn´t run well, later I turn a little bit more and put it on 1 and the engine start but too heavy o gas, later on 1,1 and the same of last, on xxx time I put it on 0,07x (0,075) and start okk, but after few days start to run badly. So I`m thinking and thinking..... I put a 2,62 mm oring on the base of the fuel distributor, before a 3 mm one, becouse it didn´t has to long place to separate the zonda plate when is off, I mean that the zonda plate should go down a little bit, but when the cars starts the zonda plate goes less downn that shoud be and it starts to smell too 02. Then I tried with the central 3 mm allen to put clock and unclockwise but it doesn´t give too much runing eatheer to both sides. So my question is (also I got what u said in zonda plate repose o 2,19 mm) but I couldn´t I just did it by the sound "clinc" when it is just by it self and off the car. Please telle me or write were I have too see on the caliber mm, how much the nut, how much de oring who is below of it, it lengh should be? and last one is if when is all conected but with out the injectors so I can see if it all runs good just putin on the fuel bomb, it has the sistem leak a little? just like few drops of fuel? or when the bomb is runing it must drop enytning of it? I ask this becouse if not should be like a pre injection before it starts. this is very important becouse for this goes the space down on the zonda plate for the incoming air. Thanks a lot!!!! The gap between the sleeve and the nut must be 0.6 and not 0.06mm(0.06 is too little!😂). If you mean the o-ring which I did not have it has to be 26x4.5 for M102 engines. You can search for that one but stress a GAS RESISTANT! If you mean the gap on of the plate, it has to be 1-3mm, in an ideal case 1.9mm. This does not mean that your car is going to run perfect, this means that you will be able to start the car and to fine tune it afterwards using a multimeter and setting the current on the EHA to fluctuate between -3 and 0 miliamps when the car is at 80. Under these conditions every car has to run as it should be tuned up. If the fuel is coming out f the fuel distributor as the fuel pump is on without deflecting the plate then there is something wrong with the fuel distributor - a diaphragm ruptured or a bad o-ring. I think I need to dissasemble mine very carefully and check whether it needs replacing the diafram or just cleaning because it does not start when its cold, i try maybe 10 or 20 times. And it also does not burn the fuel properly when its first started, it makes like the car is coughing.

I would advise you to check the cold start valve instead.
