Even though I am a big Kawai fan, I simply adored F123 when I had played it. Even if I had tried it back to back with a Kawai GL30, which is in an entirely different planet, F123 held its own quote well. Having said that, I also played a Schimmel C120 and you immediately understand why a German piano is so special.

Für mich ist der Klang vom 121 etwas ausgewogener als beim 123! Aber beide Pianos sind sehr schöne Pianos mit einem schönen Klang! Danke euch beiden für dieses Video und danke für eure Arbeit! 123 sounds more resonant and sustains better but 121 sounds warmer and sweeter. I think I prefer the 121

Tone is good but I feel a bit sad that it is assembled in China. Still prefer pianos made in Germany, Japan and America. There is a difference in workmanship imo.

Why building pianos that are so close in terms of height? The Fridolin Schimmel and the Zimmerman are tough competition for Hailun and Ritmuller. Not sure Essex can even be compared.

Tried the 121 at a Piano store, found the action was very non-responsive. Maybe it needed some work by a technician or I tried a dud.

I played two at two different dealers/shops and they were vastly different. One wowed me and has me intrigued with it for the the price. The other was was worthy of dismissal compared to other pianos in the room. I also played a couple different ones at the same shop and they weren't equally put together. So I would say that there may be some luck in getting one that is ready from factory, but with some good dealer prep can be quite an appealing option.
