'Schindler's List' (1993) is Steven Spielberg's masterpiece. One of the most appreciated films of all time. Based on the novel 'Schindler's Ark' by Thomas Keneally and adapted by Steven Zaillian.
This holocaust drama received seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director for Spielberg and Best Score for John Williams. All the earnings this film made went to Spielberg's Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation. You can find their site here: www.usc.edu/libraries/archives...
The film is about the German businessman Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), a member of the NSDAP. He's a born oppurtunist who travels from Czechoslovakia to Krakow for cheap workers. It is 1939 and the war had just begun, Schindler's plan is to start manufacturing goods for the German millitary. In order to earn his money he wants to use Jewish labourers. Thousands of them are in Krakow. Schindler secures an old factury and a work force from the Germans and starts his production. All with help from the benign Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley) who has contacts with the underground Jewish business community. Quickly Schindler's factory gains popularity as a safe haven for Jews. Schindler is reluctant to give in to this idea. But later is confronted with the horrors of the holocaust. When the SS clears Krakow from Jews with horrifying force, all under the lead of Amon Göth (Ralph Fiennes). Affected by these images Schindler begins his plan to save the Jews from prosecution. All cumulating into a list of Jewish labourers who are essential to production.
This is my longest video yet, therefore it had to be split in two. This is the first half. The video is accompanied by John Williams Oscar winning music. With amazing violin solos by Itzhak Perlman.
'Schindler's List' and its music are property of Universal Pictures.

You're absolutely right about the movie. yes, one of the most moving scenes are the ones which depicts the little girl in red coat ! It brings tears to my eyes everytime I see the scenes of that girl, only 2 times in that movie.

If you want to understand the genius of Steven Spielberg he worked simultaneously on Schindlers List and Jurassic Park and was utterly true to both films. Schindlers List should be shown in every school to demonstrate where humanity can steep to in terms of cruelty

I was in bed in hospital intensive care new years eve 1999 after recovering from serious illness and they showed this film. I will never ever forget this film and this piece of music. It is haunting, beautiful. i think the greatest movie ever made. To show in black and white was a master stroke and to see the humanity of 1 man in the middle of utter despair and suffering highlights true humanity. Maybe this was what was meant when we see the girl in red dress appear at times in the darkness

Schindler's List is real masterpiece of cinematography. Master Steven Spielberg deserved that Oscar. Liam Neeson, Ben Kinhsley, Ralph Fiennes, Caroline Goodall, Embeth Davidtz and all others did a brilliant job. They didn't make decent War movies since 2000 (except for Enemy at the Gates (2001) and Black Book (2006)). There's no doubt about it, this film will be a classic in decades, even hundreds of years to come in cinema. The 80's and the 90's were the Best eras in film

History is essential to making this planet better. Sadly though, humans have none. While Speilberg was accepting his Oscar in 1994 for Schindler's List and making a speach about the need to remember to avoid repeating mistakes, nearly 900 000 Tutsis were being killed by Hutus in Rwanda... and once again, the world did nothing to stop this genocide.

@1stwalker Well, that first off is not a genocide. The targets of the bombings were indiscriminate, so it couldn't be a genocide. The targets were whoever was in the cities at the time, not anyone by race/class/age ect. Second, the U.S. asked Japan to surrender. They wouldn't. They still had their whole island left to defend. They wanted to in fact keep going after both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but the emperor intervened and stopped them.

It's unfortunately people can only make moral judgements when force and violence is directly applied but can morally justify it through a third party like the government. Apparently, the more removed the average person is from the application of force, the more willing he becomes in supporting it.

@TomArayaFan666 Yes, I am. The U.S. DOES make mistakes, all the time. Like every country. It's just how people often separate out our mistakes, and ignore other countries of near the same. Like when you were saying we were responsible for WWII through the treaty of Versailles- maybe a little for not stopping it from being written the way it was, but the other countries were responsible too. You kind of just singled us out there, which upset me a bit.
