Don't be surprised, but Schiphol station is a busy train hub, it is the fifth busiest train station in the Netherlands after Utrecht, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague. Schiphol station is also a transfer station for commuters and intercity trains, as well as international destinations such as London, Paris and Brussels. A train departs or arrives every 30 seconds. This train station has six platforms and is connected to almost all major cities in the Netherlands. For those who want to travel to Amsterdam Centraal, you need to go to platform 1. Platforms 2 and 3 also have trains to Amsterdam, but not always to Centraal. These trains go to either train stations in Amsterdam West or South. Check the location for your destination, because sometimes it is more convenient and faster to travel to Amsterdam South train station and take the metro to the city center. There may be a metro station near your destination. Because Amsterdam Centraal Station can sometimes be overcrowded and busy. You don't need to buy train tickets. In the Netherlands, you can check in with your debit card or credit card for trains, metro, tram, bus and ferries.

Heathrow Express gets you from London Heathrow to Central London in 15 minutes and runs every 15 minutes.

My main advice for Amsterdam is always: avoid Centraal if you have luggage,if you can. It's big and crowded and you can easily walk the wrong way. Station Zuid has excellent metro, tram and bus connections to the center. Outside the working day rush, it's a lot quieter. I personally would not recommend Sloterdijk station as it is very confusing, but it also has good transit options.

In Osaka, there was a train and a bus and our airbnb host had a good point. if you take the bus, there is a place for your luggage and you are guaranteed a seat. Not worrying about my luggage at the end of the train in the luggage area or if it would even fit was a nice plus. (although we are 100% carryon now)

DON'T ASK THE TRAIN CONDUCTORS! SENT ME ON THE WRONG TRAIN ON PURPOSE! GLAD I NEVER PAID THE FAIR! (TWICE)

Trust me, they don't do that on purpose. There are quite a lot of station names that, when pronounced by foreigners, can sound A LOT like other stations, making you board the wrong train by accident. I cross the main hall of Schiphol for work 4 days a week and though I'm fluent in English and pretty fluent in German and know some basic words in a few other languages, sometimes I'm even lost on the station names foreigners mention, either because the pronounciation is way off (which isn't bad, I most likely will butcher station names in languages I don't know as well) or because it sounds a lot like another station, but which is at a completely different spot in the country (For example: Haarlem easily sounds a lot like Arnhem, I've had tourists try to explain to me that they had to get to Schagen which (from their mouth) sounded so much like 'Zaandam' that I kept selecting the wrong ticket on the ticketmachine. Eventually they showed me their phones and we figured it out. For the last part of your message, here's some Dutch directness: Good. Stay out of the country, we've got enough fare evaders already!

I don't think they did it on purpose but I've seen them direct people to the wrong train many times. It's because platforms are "fluid", they're assigned based on when the train comes in. There's no fixed platform, and it can be really bad if you're not prepared for it.

In the netherlands you can pay with your debit/creditcard or even apple pay when you enter public transport. You do not need to purchase a ticket

does it work with all bank cards or just Dutch/European ones? because we might think it works for everyone but if someone from South Africa or Japan comes over they might have a card that doesn't get accepted by the system. so for people that want to use public transit in The Netherlands, do some research beforehand and check if you're able to pay in the transit of your choice or if you need to buy a ticket before entering the transit vehicle. ps. for people visiting The Netherlands, if you're wanting to know if a taxi is real or just some creep offering you a ride. in The Netherlands official taxi's have a blue license plate. so if someone tries to get you into a car with a yellow license plate it's not a real cab.

@@ChristiaanHW Almost all: I've only come across two or three or so that were not accepted. The majority is and even the most foreign, exclusive or small sounding banks that issue wireless-transaction enabled bankcards work. (I basically work at the airport and cross the airport 4 days a week and have seen a lot of banks and people from the smallest places on the globe and almost all their cards work). About the cabs: at Schiphol airport there are official taxis, clearly marked on the floor with a route to follow to get to these taxis. You will also easily take note of the unofficial taxis as there will be some guys repeatedly (and rather desperately/aggresively by the sound of it) shouting 'Taxi! Taxi! Yes cheap taxi!' near the busstops for regular buses...

I get so tired of Wolter just doing his "talking Wolter head" videos. Here was a good chance to shoot some location and demonstrate some processes... but nah he just squats in a airport and talks about the pros and cons of public transport.
