need more grand tours like that 2010 tdf. was an amazing duel. the stoppies on mountains while all the other competition road around them and they were just fixated on each other was so thrilling...

I recall Andy stating in an interview that "the look" was him assessing how tired Contador was. Without his sunglasses on Andy could look right at Contador's eyes to see how he was doing. Interesting stuff.

I think he's analyzing him, how tired he might be and if he's still a threat. He looks at his hands first, then he looked at his face to get a better idea on where he stands. Looking at how hard an opponent might be holding his handlebar can reveal a lot on his current state/exhaustion.

I think Andy was actually looking to see if Contador was in any sort of difficulty. You see it quite often but it normally isn't as obvious as this. Nibali did it to Wiggins this year. If you watch cycling as a spectator you get to know certain cyclists tells and it's like a game of poker between them all - they're trying to stay as straight-faced as possible.

agreed.... he was fucking tired and basically saying "you aint dropping me, so quit fuckin around".... but i think also think the commentators have to exaggerate to really entertain people... or atleast the casual watcher that isnt into bike racing, but more or less tune in for the drama.....

I think the commentator is kinda wrong, Contador did the glimpse of an attack to give a message to Schleck, which was: "don't try attacks anymore, I can keep up the pace". Let's remind that Schleck had tried multiple attacks in that time.

they're friends dude, he was probably saying "i feel like vomiting" or something

@yoomazir Cycle Sport America suggests that AC's attack here was yet another bluff. From being sick and on antibiotics and Andy improving as much as he did from 2009, AC had to show he still had more in his legs, even though he simply didn't; this also explains why he didn't attack all tour. The magazine also suggests that had Schleck attacked with 5-8 km left on the Morzine-Avoriaz, as Riis as told him, the gap on Contador would've been huge. Of course this is just speculation...

@johntkooz You clearly didn't watch this years Giro then. Contador gifted 2 stages away to Rujano and Tiralongo. The one to Tiralongo was a thankyou for his work during Contadors time at Astana. Seemed fairly obvious to me that Contador would have won that stage if only he had bothered to sprint for it at the summit.

Commentators always get it wrong ha!...Or at least they tend to exaggerate (ever so slightly) but I think Schleck was saying "you aint gonna lose me mate" and at the same time knowing he wasnt gonna shake Mr C either....great stuff though hu?

@MrAskerck which races have you been watching? Andy Scleck complains all the time and Becca bought a team for him to win the tour. Contador didn't complain but died with his boots on

contador can be compared with real madrid. Buy the best and hope to win without an strategi, and if they lose they complain!! Don't like Contador but he is good. Schleck is my favorite in the GC:P He is a team fighter and helps and support his team mates!!!!
@munsterfloyd12 жыл бұрын
Contador is a convicted doper, Andy's brother was dumped out of TDF for failing a test this year. Maybe you would like to see Armstrong back!

@12armstrong Tours winned by Alberto 3, races of 3 weeks winned by Andy 0. Andy is a great rider but at the moment is not as good as Contador. May be you can compare Andy with Poulidor but not with Merckx.
