A footnote about the choreography: Hal Prince directed the original ''Cabaret'' (1966), but don't forget Ron Field did its Tony-winning choreography. And speaking of Tony winners, Christopher Gattelli, who won for ''Newsies,'' has been doing a genius job on ''Schmigadoon's'' pastiches. He got an Emmy nomination for his dances on Season 1, and ought to be up for another one for Season 2.

Gattelli has been knocking it out of the park without fail!!

Elsie doesn’t just have “a” tattoo, she has the “same” tattoo as Sweet Charity in the movie.

Hell Yes, I am absolutely ecstatic to see Schmigadoon come back. But I also lost my mind when I saw that Emily's prediction of them moving on to different eras of musicals came true. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the show

I think the “cheese” line in the opening song might be a reference to “leave your cheese to sour” in Magic to Do.

Cheese is also known as moolah.

See, I don't know. If these orphan kids from the opening number turn out to be important later, I'm tempted to think Kratt isn't as evil as he appears to be and maybe he's got some Daddy Warbucks energy?

Apparently in the original cast of Pippin the ensemble aren’t wearing gloves they are their hands but the lighting makes it look like they are wearing gloves, learned that from Candy Brown who was an ensemble member in the original cast

I have not seen anyone mention the swastika symbol jenny does at the end of Kuput. There is a pont she holds her hands up and a dancer is in the chair upside down and they use legs and arms to make the nazi symbol. Which makes sense for Cabaret.

The guy in the hallway in the rear end of an animal suit?another reference to Gypsy? Baby Junes Caroline the Cow, maybe?
@StealingFocus Жыл бұрын
That was my first thought!
@EYonka Жыл бұрын
And Gypsy takes place during the Hitler rise era in Germany so one of mama rose’s chorus boys could have been interested in what hitler had to say in Mein Kampf And Cabaret is in that era as well, so much political commentary ,tied in to what a young performer may have been reading backstage…..

I heard a convincing argument that Kratt is also an analogue for Charlemagne and Sergeant Rivera might be Lewis
@corgilover2319 Жыл бұрын
I have not seen any channel mention this yet but Octavius Kratt's cane has the head of a wolf. Could be a reference to Into the Woods we do know he pursues younger women. Also a wolf in the financial world since he owns everything. Also the last 6 notes of the leprechaun's song are the beginning of dazzle Dazzle complete with two triangle pings. Love your videos!!!

I definitely see that, but Woods falls outside the time frame this show seems to be going for (60s-70s, whereas Woods was late 80s). But you never know! We'll seeeeeeee!! :)

Do u think the main characters singing one line about their arc in the opening "Schmicago" reference Sweeney Todd opening style?
@StealingFocus Жыл бұрын
Perhaps? But it also specifically happens in Magic to Do. A nice trope from the era regardless!

Was the older woman standing off to the side during “do we shock you” a reference to something?
@StealingFocus Жыл бұрын
It's a fairly consistent vibe for the women in the Kit Kat Klub, so she's probably adding to that Cabaret atmosphere!

Did you not see the hippies Jesus Christ Superstar is Happening that’s why they’re referencing Andrew Lloyd Webber
@StealingFocus Жыл бұрын
I think they are! But JCS is far from the only hippie musical in the era. It's not even the definitive one
@ryno1509 Жыл бұрын
@@StealingFocus they most definitely are mashing up Hair with JCS with the character Topher as in CHRISTopher being the Jesus figure
