The only era of really good offensive line play by the Seahawks was with Holmgren. I have watched since day one. The Seahawks have had bad offensive lines since day one. The Carrol/Schneider's twist wasn't fixing the o line. It was adding a amazing running back, and a highly mobile quarterback. This became the new nfl blueprint for a quick rebuild and getting into the playoffs quick. The old school way was building your lines, then getting playmakers.

Thats what I've been saying. But we kept on drafting busted ass running backs....

That sound bite will cost John his job if he cant fix the OL, we blamed Pete for a decade for bad OL then he comes out and say this and halfway through season we have a bottom 3 OL, I cant see this ends well

It's clear now that john was equally to blame for the OL issues

Remember how Russ was running for his life nearly every year with the Hawks? Now JS is doing the same to Geno, while always trying to build an O-line on the cheap. This may ultimately get JS fired next year if the Hawks don’t improve. I’m not convinced JS can even pick quality O-linemen.

The narrative John didnt care about Oline this past offseason is not true and many people have lost any nuance to this discussion. George Fant gave up just 3 sacks last season, played really well for the Texans. Connor Williams was the #2 Center behind just Ragnow. He drafted a guard in the 3rd round and picked up Laken Tomlinson who was considered a serviceable Vet at least. Cross, Tomlinson and Williams all grade average or above (Cross is a #5 LT this season, drafted by JS). Prior to the season, people where very satisfied with what was being done and many raved about the Williams signing. What should've been done differently ? Not sign the free agent #2 Center in the league ? Pay top dollar for a RT when you seemingly expected Lucas back even earlier ? Pay Damien Lewis 53M $ ? People just yap the common repeated narratives without going into detail. 62 % of the pressures come from the right side. Thats where you had to play your 4th string tackle for most of the season. Is that on John ? Your 3rd round Guard (who are usually ready to play early) is not - bad luck, bad he's a rook. Mark Schlereth just today on Seattle Sports picked apart the coaching and play calling which adds another dimension to this discussion people can't / won't look at being busy with their "jOhN sChNeIdeR hAtEs oLinE" bs because thats what you get the most easy likes for. The coaching hires on offense are what is actually worse than the Oline players themselves.

the narrative is about the last decade+ that john has been going cheap on oline, not just the last offseason. plus even after drafting 2 tackles and getting some free agents this season the line is still one of the worst in the league. results matter, and a decade of dumpster fires should matter.

its not all on john, but my understanding is john hired the coaches didnt he? Or did grubb pick the oline coach?

John had a decade and a half to present a competent Line. Trading max unger and failing to draft creed humphrey are some of the highlights

@@henrydiesel4054 I knew he would turn into an elite center, It was a safe pick to make and instead they drafted a 24 year old receiver
@CasualClinkz22 сағат бұрын
We gotta be fair here. Connor Williams was a great shot at getting great center play. Haynes in the 3rd was a consensus steal plus we didn't have a 2nd. Byron is a great pick an mauling in the trenches and your giving your new defensive HC a lovely piece to work with. Where would we be without him rn? RT he probably betted more on Lucas than he should have. LG Damien Lewis was not worth what the Panthers gave him. If it all would have worked out we are looking at a good Oline. I get being upset after all this and still having a terrible Oline, but your always smarter in hindsight and to me that's not fair to him

I agree with anyone who has finally come to the realisation that Schneider is the root cause of what ails this team. He is well past his due by date effectively immediately But it doesn’t end there. The lack of communication and poor play call management is a major issue. A rookie unproven coach with a college level o coordinator? This is NOT solely about the players although they factor in, they are not root cause. Inability to communicate, coordinate plays and execute efficient game plans are the glaring problems Disaster unfolding as designed. Grubb for whatever is positive in his resume is just not getting the job done at NFL level and the longer he is endured the slower the bleed out. Whatever is happening between Mac and Grubb is ineffectual and is going to get key players hurt. I feel terrible for the marquee players whose careers are adversely impacted and their value dropping, a serious injury at this point would be ruinous for the individual. But also key, a team is a reflection of their coaches personality and this team looks schizophrenic and unable to make decisions. Meanwhile, Ravens continue doing what Mac is credited for, without him, ignore this fact at one’s own expense. Give it time and other brain dead responses are just proof that folks will ignore evidence to have their emotional responses. It’s pathetic. Grow up and make the hard calls and admit that this coaching debacle is everything wrong. Not everyone is cut out for NFL or HC and this entire Seattle coaching and management staff are all failed experiments that only going to continue getting franchise investments hurt or careers ended. ✌️

He should already be fired for not building a proper offensive line. He completely screwed the team over by poor drafting and getting washed up players

“You can fool people sometimes but you cant fool people all the time.” Scneider hid behind Wilson and Carroll for a decade concerning the incompetence of the Oline. Now he’s the one front and center.

We have two badass tackles, can’t predict one will be injured all the time. Gotta invest in it more than they have but it’s not like it’s being ignored.

Interior o-line has been absolute trash for 8 years. They had Duane brown and now Charles cross at LT but they basically have a new starting center every year

I won't get over the Eskridge pick until they actually find a long term starter at center

The answer is simple. The team that loses does not get paid. That would turn it up a notch. No one should be entitled to guaranteed money whether they show up or not.
@TheGraham2723 сағат бұрын
Give him this year and the next 2 before he's gone. You have a new coaching staff and some players this year. Next year we build on that and see where it goes, and then final year. And evaluate after that. I think that's a reasonable time frame, and depending on what happens during that time you keep him or let him go.

I think the problem we have with the ownership making decisions at the team management level is they don’t have the knowledge or experience to make the decision. Unlike PA who had. Replace the Head coach easy… ask the GM. Replace the GM, ? Who does JA ask? Or consult?

There's a committee that advises Jodi on these matters, at least as I understand it. Paul was more hands on, but had a similar support structure. Hard to say what is going on behind the scenes. It's very hush hush, including the timeline for a sale of the team.

Isn’t John responsible for hiring the O line coach too. Maybe he’s not hiring the right line coaches over the years. Also, our offensive coordinator is from college too. I like some of his play calling but maybe he’s not up to speed with NFL run schemes.
