I drive a 2021 Cascadia day-cab for different company and we all hate the brake assist! Sometimes the truck will brake by itself when going down the road as it comes across a shadow from an overpass. Its scary when you're doing 65 and the truck slams on the brakes by itself

Honestly having driven both the new style and old style Cascadia's that schneider has, i prefer the older ones. Much better visibility out the front since you don't have that visibility destroying box right in the middle of the windshield, and the bumper isn't so low that you tear it up anytime you need to go over a speed bump or a low curb

If you care so much about safety, why is there no sleeper escape door on the left side? You don't drive it so you don't care. Great! It has one on the left but if the truck falls on the left your trapped inside a possibly burning truck.

I drove tankers for Widing out of their Portland yard in the 70s. Ran between Portland OR and Richmond CA. Left trucking in1979. WOW the trucks of today. If they were like that back then I would still be driving. Back when I drove no A/C no radios small sleepers with a pad for a mattress. 4 speed main box and 4 speed brownie or 13 or 15 speed Roadranger. I love driving but hated being home maybe 9 hours a week for months.

Driver comfort: remove the brake assist and that stupid lane departure. Nearing two years I will not drive a truck with those features or a company furnished dashcam. Opti idle is trash. Trying to sleep and the engine turns on and off the entire time. Single bunk? Again nope. Should have a workstation and top bunk.

Workstation and top bunk would be sweet as a solo driver but they need to keep these trucks open to team drivers so that wouldn't make sense sadly. I like lane and blind spot warnings when they are only visual like some cars have on the a pillars.

Steve with opti-idle 2-hour recharge cycle that's the perfect wet stack interval to clog the 1-box. if the parksmart came with solar panels you wouldn't need to idle at all. I have two thermoking solar panels and it keeps the batteries topped off at 13v all night under minimal street lights, 13.8v in the sun, like $2k for two panels and the charge controller.. think about how much more longevity you'd get out of engine/aftertreatment without needing to idle at all, plus even less diesel usage

More cameras outside is sweet but inside is too intrusive given people live in these. I've notice most headlights that come OEM are horrible even if they upgrade to LED's, I hope these are actually good. Lane departure and blind spot I prefer having a visual light on the A pillars only vs that buzzer. Fridge is sweet, that and a microwave should be standard on all sleeper cab trucks. Now if you guys can ever fit a compact shower/bathroom, I would like to shake you hands personally XD. I hope the auto braking got better cuz I had some bad experiences with it hitting the brakes when it had no reason to do so. LOL you know people did not like that low bumper but looks like they are improving the design. Nice truck guys.

Well I know the trucks have opti-idle, but I thought Schneider equips APU's on their OTR trucks. My friend had one when he worked there, and I am soon starting in a week from now. I'm just glad my truck won't have the disgusting ugly digital dash! lol.

If you watch the video objectivity you will notice that 4 minutes is spent on how the truck benefits Schneider. and 1 minute on driver comfort. I'm not sure why a driver would care about the arodynamics or efficiency of a truck he gets paid by the mile for driving.

Because it is about trying to save emissions into the atmosphere, sure they get to save money on gas but why not? Any business need to find ways to cut costs without sacrificing too much on the job. It is not evil for a business to find ways to make a profit, PLUS less fuel usage means you dont have to pull over as often so it also benefits you

Not to mention that if Schneider is efficient and can save money they hopefully will pass a percentage on too the drivers. I drive for them and have a 2022 and it is definitely not a O/O spec truck. But it has everything I need, 8” memory foam bed. A very comfortable and adjustable seat spec. All the gauges a driver would want/need to monitor. XM radio, inverter, in cab fifth wheel release, a switch to do a pre trip on all the lights without having to jury rig something. PWR windows and door locks. It may be basic by today’s standards but I bet it is still nicer than quite a few drivers own personal cars. Also many have a impression that Schneider doesn’t pay as well as other companies but I make around 75,000k a year sometimes more sometimes less. And I am home every weekend and sleep out in the truck only once or twice a week. And only more if I don’t want to drive home or want to maximize miles. Lastly my DBL’s treat me well. They understand when I have to take a day off for family reasons. I would say some of the old trucks are crap as Schneider holds onto their trucks longer than most major common carriers and some of account DBL’s I have talked to could use a little training in treating their drivers less like a commodity and more like a person. But I’m the years I have been here that is rare. Schneider is not for everybody and everybody is not for Schneider of course but I really believe if you set a life goal for yourself, work hard, accept there will be bad days(traffic), weeks(truck breakdown)or sometimes months (winter). Then you will prosper just about anywhere. I’m specifically talking about myself here at Schneider.

Too tired to keep driving but the load is about to be late? Not a problem! (As long as you don’t abuse it) and really anything else that they do when most companies like to micro-manage you in everything like telling you when to take breaks and when to sleep or calling up your dispatcher because the truck broke down and having to hear yelling on why your not maintaining the truck

Too bad most drivers will not have APU’s/EPU’s, refrigerators, Inverters that actually make sense power and functionality wise, etc. You will constantly be told you idle too much, never have fresh food, and sweat while sleeping at Schneider in smelly slip-seating trucks :(

Everything in this comment is false. 98% of Schneider trucks are equipped with Thermo pack APUs that you can use for A/C and heat. They also have 2000 Watt Pure sine wave Inverters. Very rarely do you have to use the crappy Opti. idle if hardly at all. The APU keeps me very comfortable. Also every driver is assigned their own truck except a few of the local haulers. The only time you may have to deal with a slip seat is if your truck needs major repairs. Being that Schneider keeps their trucks within 2 - 3 years old, it is extremely rare.

Schneider's OC in Charlotte has some country boy racism going on there. A few blacks had to work twice as hard as whites to pass. When I reported the bias I was told not to worry about others and study more. Terrible experience
