@@alanlangley7246 in my first 4 years, 4 companies, 1 they fired me. 2 dry van 53’ Trailers destroyed under low over passes in Jersey. No truck damage, and no one hurt 🙏 6 months at minimum!! The big outfits won’t touch you Schneider,Swift, etc. Western Express because I hustled, found them, less than a week of being fired, bout 2 months into it, they refused me home time from Calif to El Paso TX(company policy). I quit, cleaned truck, turned in fuel card and keys. Already had a truck waiting for me because i hustled and made calls, search websites, Craig’s list I found the outfit that I love trucking for to this day!! And from El Paso TX!!! OTR in a 2021 Kenworth T680 automatic!!! So you old timers (I’m actually 66 years old too!! lol). Stop scaring these new drivers with bull crap in you’ll never get a decent job…blah blah blah…corporate doesn’t own me. And I started with swift, when there’s huge numbers in trucks and drivers, then there’s always huge numbers in problems and issues. Go get what you want, there’s just as many, if not more smaller outfits out there and you will get a more personal education that way.

I find it highly suspect of them that they knew you were violating this rule and never did anything about it until you reminded them that it was time for you to go home for your break. The trucking industry is rampant with this behavior. Once you get some experience look into getting your own rig. There is a lot of freedom in being your own boss. If you don't want to take a load you don't take it . If you want to go home you go home you only answer to you.

You aren't being very truthful about the realities of being an Owner Operator, beyond the very obvious tax stuff, the entire mentality of "You only do what you want, skip loads you don't like..." is a load of bull, you haul what pays, and you don't own the business, the business owns you, because you owe money every, single, week. Take a week off? Still owe all your insurance, all your equipment costs, etc, it doesn't stop, ever, hospital? Too bad, still owe, you'll run more bullshit loads and spend less time at home owning the truck than driving somebody else's, there's nothing wrong with owning a truck, I do, but for the love of God stop telling people that the roads are lined with gold and the farts smell like fucking roses, because it simply isn't true

I was with Schneider for six years, and my husband for five. We both drove separately and teamed for them. I felt it was a great intro to the industry, reenforcing what I had learned in driving school. We made good money, gained valuable experience in hazmat hauling and pulling doubles. Sure, there were some things we didn’t like, people and places we didn’t care for, but you find that anywhere. We’ve been Owner Operators for four years now, doing AA&E work, and all our past experience prepared us for this fantastic opportunity. I’m forever grateful to Schneider for my time spent there. No matter how well you get along under normal conditions, there will be days when every ounce of patience and forgiveness one can muster will be needed to prevent irreparable harm to your relationship. Hubby and I have been married for 26 years, so we know each other’s behaviors. It helps a lot in knowing when to let things roll off the old shoulders and how to communicate something that is truly problematic. Best of luck to you both!

Every one has to weigh them separately for themselves. High standards is one thing. Candlelight dinner on a snow white table cloth is another. We as operators complain about steering wheel holders. Well maybe that is true then again maybe not. Keyboard punchers burning drivers tells me that upper management likes the punchers that are "smart enough to do the job and dumb to know the difference". ALLL office operators will say "well we are all trained at what you do so what can I help you with?" THAT is when to hang up. The other issue being the key positions that are given to prior drivers to safeguard their retirement. On face value its great, nothing wrong with that. On the down side it is the same as doing those drivers the same way keyboard punchers use drivers. Those now "safeguarded drivers" are comfortable in their new positions and will burn those still driving in a heartbeat at company command. Lastly, I drive like me and for many years. I will continue and would not recommend Schneider or Knight or any other mega carrier another name. If the well trained guru's of trucking and the safeguarded types want me to drive as they would...they need to get back behind the wheel themselves. My driving record is impeccable and not doctored to make it so. I will not tolerate driving as "someone else" would drive. THAT is totally asinine aside from totally unsafe and benign to what got you your driving record to begin with. I will not drive "another's policy, conditions and habits." THAT is what is burning good drivers and making them nervous wrecks within themselves. Company's are actually burning their own industry to the tune of 300% turn over rates per year then complain when they get inexperienced drivers and then belittle them and expect them to stay. Being grown is one thing, playing ignorant and naive to keep a job is demasculation at its core. It all comes from protected ideology within each company and it starts with every company slogan that is in this business. Think about every one of those slogans in reverse and there is a burned driver with a well trained keyboard puncher and a safeguarded retiree. Walk young man, walk. When you do read the next slogan tead it with fresh eyes. Read very well and read thru the written to uncover the unwritten. It is the unwritten or the lightly spoken that will get you yet another bus ticket in disgust.

Needing to leave a company (some of the time) confirms the dysfunctions and poor intentions that's exercised and comfortably takes place under the radar and sometimes those in corporate are well aware of all that's taking place. Getting fired usually isn't the best way to go, as they had valid reasons to show how irresponsible you were with your choices while working for them.

I’m currently a Schneider employee but I don’t plan on staying longer than 2 months. 70% of the inexperienced drivers don’t stay employed at Schneider. And that was told to me by a relative who was former employee at Schneider

Schneider is just getting rid of potential legal liabilities - they are doing the right thing - distracted driving is the major cause of accidents. Plus use of electronic devices by CDL holders while driving is against federal regulations. Hope Tiki and Reach have not ended their careers - got a feeling most companies won’t touch them.

Look into Knight Transportation. Non forced dispatch and get paid daily. They have a Fontana Office I made that jump 15 years ago. I enjoyed it. I have been an owner operator since 2010 out of a small company in Minnesota. Knight Transportation was a breath of fresh air after Schneider.

Lately I have noticed many of these Mega Carriers terminating newly trained Drivers like yourself - Some are being terminated for Correctable Company Policy Violations - Like in your case for example, you are still in Training, and the company could have given you a written warning, and or provided additional training - But instead they chose to "Terminated Your Employment" for a Correctable Infraction - It don't make sense, when the very same Mega Carriers are crying "Driver Shortage" - On the other hand, these carriers receive Billions of Dollars in Federal Funding from the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act WIOA, and Federal Student Aid just to name a couple - So what is really happening here? - Are Mega Carriers creating a "Driver Shortage" on purpose? - Are they Profiting from the self created turnover rate amongst Students wanting a career in the trucking industry? - Or, are the back office pencil pushers, Dispatchers, Trainers, Managers in these Mega Carriers terminating good young first year drivers, for their own job securement? - I smell Corruption and other unlawful activities taken place here - Tiki, keep your chin up, stay focused, and whatever you do Keep Up That Great Attitude you possess - Wishing You The Very Best On Your Journey !

Years ago I worked for Schneider as a company driver, when Donny Schneider ran the company. I felt that they were a good company for novice drivers to start with and their policies to be there for their driver's in time of need, like getting you home for a family emergency was comforting and is why I chose to sign up. Having said this, my first 8 months were enjoyable and I had fun, but then a life and death family emergency happened. I had medical power of attorney for my parents which were elderly at the time, and my mother was rushed to the hospital, and needed surgery. She had always been in good health up till then, so I would have thought that it would have been my dad not my mother.y cousin contacted Schneider to let the know of the emergency and to see how fast they could get me home, as I had the only signing atthority needed before an operation could be done. Now back in those days, with a fire situation like this, Schneider promised to get you home as quickly as possible, even if they needed to fly you home. Of course like I said, that sounded reassuring, till I actually had to call on the to help me out. I wasn't too far away from my home OC, about a days drive, but instead of routing me home, they routed me in the opposite direction. I of course refused the load stating that I needed to get home to sign the paperwork, so the operation could go ahead. They claimed that all families pull this trick, to get their family members home, except this was for real. Long story short, after reaching out to Green Bay, they got me a load home be for my mother would have perished. The operation was a success, but the doctor's said that her recovery period would be a few weeks, and since my parents were divorced and being an only child, that task fell on me. I kept Schneider informed, but on the day of the operation, Schneider, called me that morning, while my mother was in surgery, to say they needed me back by noon the next day, or they would terminate my employment. Well, I didn't show up as demanded, so they terminated me. Someone once told me, 6 months with Schneider, was like a year with anyone else. I had a friend working for another company, coencedently he just called to find out how my mother was, and when I told him what Schneider had done, he reached out to his company, and they called me that same day. I explained to them that I couldn't start right away until my mother had recovered, and they said take as long as you need. They sent me the paperwork to start the process and do you know what Schneider did? They told my new company that they couldn't get my records from them, because I was still their driver, except they fired me for not returning in the time given. This was their attempt to prevent me from being employed by anyone else. Needles to say they didn't get away with this, after I reported them to the labor board. Once I was able to work again, what a difference between Schneider and my new home. One thing I learned from my experience with Schneider, they only follow policy when it benefits them. It's nice that you had a nice experience with them, but I know lots of driver's that I have met over the my 25+ years over the road that have similar if not worse experiences. As soon as you want time off, you are expendable. Their r a lot better companies out there, and pay better. If you have no accidents and no tickets, in other words a safe driving record, the trucking world is your oyster. Do your research though, just don't take the first job out there. Remember, there's a shortage of good safe driver's out there, something Schneider it sounds like still hasn't learned. Donny use to say that the barrel was bottomless, probably because Schneider would take anyone off of the street and train them to drive a transport, even if they didn't know how to drive a car. Good luck with your search, I would be surprised if you are still unemployed by week's end.

All truckers, especially trainees, need to do their homework before starting any company. You need to learn more then just pay, bonuses, benefits, but also their policies, their rules, have an idea of how they run, where they run, what they run, what kind of equipment do they run, do you have to touch the freight, do they have some form of APU or equivalent, do they have inverters, do they have bunk heaters, do they have ez pass, are the trucks governed, do they have extra stop pay, do they have layover/detention pay, do they slip seat or do they assign trucks, what is the pet policy, what kind of driver resources does the company offer, how long can you expect to be on the road each trip, what is their average length of haul, what is the driver turnover and retention rate, what are the company defined obligations to and from the drivers, how much downtime between loads on average, do they preplan loads, and more questions of the like. Ask all these questions and much more before you even think of signing on with the company. Some of these questions may not apply to you or the job you are looking into, but anything that applies to you is something you should ask about. Don't just ask the recruiter or any other company representative either. Online reviews and KZbin help a lot, but beware of trolls that are exclusively against all mega carriers or are just plain biased against any company that they don't work for themselves. Probably the best way to get information on a company is to ask truckers. If you know one, ask any question they are willing to answer. Also, you can go to a truck stop and ask any driver who will talk to you, but beware, most companies nowadays have recruiting bonuses, which can bias that drivers "opinion" on the company so he/she can get that bonus, so take that advise with a grain of salt. If they want you to give the recruiter their name or driver code or whatever, take it with 2 grains of salt. That driver may be guiding you into the best experience you ever dreamed of, or he/she could just see you as a pay day for themselves. That is for you to decide for yourself. Always remember that all companies are not created equal. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, and some drivers may thrive and others will fail in any company. It all depends on you, your needs, the company needs, and how well you and that company can balance and perform. One last piece of advise I can give about mega carriers vs smaller carriers...They both have advantages and disadvantages, but ultimately, they both have the capacity to either build you up, or bend you over the proverbial barrel.That is something you will just have to figure out for yourself. Factor in your needs and expectations and weigh them to everything you know about the job you are applying to. Remember that just because it works for somebody else does not mean it will work for you, or the other way around for that matter. Sorry for being so long winded, but I hope this helps somebody.

I agree with the Schneider policy. Ppl shouldn't be vlogging while driving. Stick a cam on your dash and overlay after. Vlogging while driving creates distractions. In a truck thats a no no. Good for you to own up and smart of you for seeing it coming.

@@joeyyc8515 It's also a liability thing. These companies have to pay the bills and they have to protect themselves against liability. At fault or not, had this driver been involved in an accident involving injuries or fatalities while making videos... there would be a lot of zeros on the judgement and there is no defense to it. Using hand held electronic devices in commercial vehicles has been illegal for quite some time. I hope the driver rids himself of the desire to film while driving. His message is great... his timing is horrible

You are amazing for taking ownership for your actions. I also was fired recently. I am not a trucke but was a personell transport driver. I backed into a tree and broke a taillight. I could blame it on the snow I slipped on or the hour I waited for my pickups who didn't show. But it was me who didn't get out and look. My fault. It is easy to make excuses but ownership is tough. You have a good attitude and will move up to better things.

CFI is a good company and enjoys people who make content and she'd good light on them. CFI see's that people who love making content helps them massively and that's why they love the other content creators like Riding With Dave(RWD). Im working on getting my CDL later this year and CFI seems to be the company im going for. Edit: Pro tip, if you are planning on making KZbin content with any trucking company make sure you ask a higher up about it and ask about restrictions on recording if there's any.

Make sure you pay attention in orientation and read the company employee manual. The rules and company policies are there. If you violate any policy or rule you have no one to blame but yourself. These companies are not in the business of youtube , they're in the freight hauling business and you are a liability if you drive distracted. If you want to create YT content then don't do it behind the wheel.
