I am a lifelong resident of Chattanooga . Made the trip from Cedar Point Yacht Club on the Cumberland back home with friends on their 53’ Atlantic! Really have enjoyed your trip and stay in Chattanooga. It’s interesting to see home from a visitors perspective ! You really gave ‘Nooga a good look .

“Swampers” was the name of the studio musicians who backed up many famous recording artists who cut records at a nearby Muscle Shoals recording studio. These artists included Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Percy Sledge, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Leon Russell, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rod Stewart, Bob Seger and The Staple Singers. A huge piece if music history there.

A good percentage of music, hits and otherwise were recorded at these studios back in the late 60s and all through the 70s. They are still at it with a resurgence of the remaining studios thanks in large part to the incredible 2013 Doc film, "Muscle Shoals." The legacy of these studios continues on in the current generation of musicians with the connection of Patterson Hood of The Drive By Truckers and Jason Isbell learning much of what he knows about music thanks to being mentored by Patterson's dad David, one of the main players in the musicians that are responsible for the "Muscle Shoals Sound." In the music industry, as much musical history is found here as it is in places like Nashville, Austin, New Orleans, New York, Chicago and Memphis. I hope that they let you do some filming when taking the studio tours.

Guitar legend (and my favorite guitarist) Duane Allman was a studio musician at FAME Studio in Muscle Shoals. He first gathered attention for his distinctive guitar riffs on Wilson Pickett’s hit version of “Hey Jude.” He also backed up Aretha Franklin, Boz Scaggs, Delaney & Bonnie and many more. Soon after he formed the Allman Brothers Band and the rest is history.

A little background on the musicians playing in this vlog at Swampers at about the 15 minute mark. The first two are Angela Hacker and James Leblanc. They are very talented singer/songwriters from here (Florence is my hometown). Angela won the first season of "Nashville Stars" and her brother was runner up. James has written many songs including "Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde" recorded by Travis Tritt. They both have various albums available wherever you stream music and should give them a listen. Angela has just started recording under the name 2xflAsH for more non-country style music and it is really good (also available for streaming). Angela's son Bay is also a singer/songwriter on his way up and is lead for the band "Outlaw Apostles" (and yes you guessed it available for streaming). They have all been friends of mine for years and are extremely talented very nice down to earth people.

C.mon guys, lets get with it,Ya'all gotta get with the territory to experience what it has to offer. Lol,
