Wonderful watching your series and passage through the Erie, Oswego and Trent Severn. Brings back memories when I moved my vessel down from Lake Simcoe to Newport RI. A lot of great people along the canal systems!!

Another great episode guys ‼️ Bummer on the fuel inlet cap. Happens. The captain certainly has a cold. You can tell by the nasal sound of his voice. Hopefully we'll be OK soon. ✨🌊💨🛥🏝🌞✨

Lots of deck time and no life jackets. The canal life is very inviting, just look at Europe and the people living on the canals. Good luck on the fuel cap replacement. Darn the bad luck. And hope the health gets better.

I believe the "clams" on the lock walls are actually "zebra mussels" Enjoying your trip, thanks!

That’s exactly what they are and they are running havoc on the Great Lakes. They plug water intakes.

Wow! That sucked that you couldn't find your gas cap while going into the water to find it. I know that didn't help your cold out. The weather was pretty crappy also. Just part of boat life. 🤠

We’re new to cruise boating. How do you know where to stop to get gas and a pump out, etc? Is there an app to show you which marinas offer which services? Thank you!
@SchoandJo8 ай бұрын
Hi Amy! Welcome to the community! Yes, most people use Active Captain (crowd sourced info, owned by garmin) for finding those things. You can see them online here: activecaptain.garmin.com/en-US/Map . For fuel there are other options, like the waterway guide which we used a lot too. We use the app Navionics which has all our maps for boating, and this information built in. If you are interested in other apps, check this article out and feel free to ask any questions in general 😁 schoandjo.com/marine-navigation-apps/

Some thing like that happened to me except it was with the bronze lid to the sea water strainer… we sent a professional diver down to dive for it but couldn’t find it in the mucky bottom. The first replacement I ordered ($$ priority shipping) was the wrong size and then finally got the right size (more $$ priority shipping)… But in the meantime I had to MacGyver a temporary fix that was pretty leaky just to start and run the engines… then had to make sure the seacock was closed any time the boat was stopped. Ughhh…feel for you!

Haha wow... that sounds like the epitome of a boat project. Glad you got it resolved, sometimes it can be a real challenge!

Oswego has four types of weather: it's raining, it's snowing, it's going to rain, it's going to snow.

Battery powered drill, keys, sunglasses, bait table...all dropped and donated to Neptune. Were you able to get just a replacement cap that matched, or did you have to replace the entire fitting? Odd that non of those you tried matched. Were the threads metric?
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
I thought it was odd at first, then I remembered its a boat so of course nothing is simple 😁 I had to replace the entire fitting! Going to show it in a future vlog.

Would a wood bung be helpful as a temporary cap
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
Maybe! That's a pretty good idea, we actually had one on board for a thru-hole, it might have fit and sealed it well enough.

Sorry about losing the cap. Did you ever test for COVID? Your cold is unfortunately persistent. Another great episode, thanks

We didn't test, but looking back it definitely was possible! This was back during Omicron times where a lot of people got Covid. Fortunately this was the last day I was sick!!

How come you don’t use your boat shower. I added a 20 gallon water heater to my boat and I also have a continuous hot water diesel water heater for eternal hot water showers (when I’m on dock water). I carry 150 gallons of fresh water. Your boat is very comfortable I imagine and can do the same???

We do! We just spend a lot of time out of Marinas and therefore are very water conscious.
