Carolina Beach is awesome! I grew up in Wrightsville Beach just north of there. We would go to Carolina Beach to the amusement park that had the chair lifts out over the beach and ocean. That amusement park was taken out by a Hurricane in the 1970's and never rebuilt.

@@SchoandJo well.. it seems kinda obvious that I need to buy a suitable boat over there when I'm ready to go, so I'll be needing some assistanse in that matter. But my needs and wants might change from now till then offcourse. Advice in where to start the loop and where to find a good boat will be greatly appreciated though 🙂

Retired from the Navy at Camp Lejeune almost 4 years ago now. Bought my first boat there and learned how shoals can be very tricky in the icw and backwaters there. This is in the past now but along the ICW there are bombing ranges.

Where are you planning on being this winter? You don’t have much time to get to warmer weather if you continue going north now.
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
Still figuring out our winter plans! KZbin will be caught up to our current situation around the end of October but this was filmed around May so just into the Summer this year. Right now the plan is to head south but we just aren't sure how far!

@@SchoandJo ok good I was getting worried I grew up on the Chesapeake bay it can be brutal depending on what kind of winter we have. I’ve seen it freeze over may times. I just didn’t want to see you stranded up north frozen 🥶. Take care of yourself

@@Godofthemoon1 Wow! Thanks for the advice, our plan is to be out of the Chesapeake around mid-November! Definitely don't want to see that kind of winter.

In the places where your anchor dragged, was there a current that changed directions as the tide switched? Thats a tough situation for any anchor, when it has to reset to a different direction. Any luck getting the dog to go on the boat? Our dog is amazingly resistant to going on our boat, can't even get him to pee on astroturf when its placed in his usual spot in our yard.

Any luck with your pup? We are always looking for advice… Yes, I think that has happened a few times… Oddly enough most of the time we are worried about the anchor it holds well and some times it doesn’t. I think mainly its two things - our old anchor its a CQR, and secondly us not setting it correctly. I think we need to use more RPMs to validate as well as use a snubber! Things to improve!

What fixed the steering wheel? My guess was a Woodruff key. Thanks. D.
@SchoandJo3 жыл бұрын
Well, what I thought was broken since it came apart in multiple pieces… was just how it was designed and I was unaware. The notch seems to be a separate piece and that’s what confused me. It turned out I just needed to buy a huge socket ( of course I didn’t have the exact size on hand), re-assemble, and tighten! So basically it was just loose, but it has always been like that since we purchased the boat so I guess I just got used to it….

Thanks Mic! We tried that but unfortunately she just uses it as a bed... its still on Pivot though so we have hope! We also tried first having her do it on land but only worked there... didn't transfer into the boat...

I've watched enough of your videos to know anchoring is always a 'high wire act'. But, I never see you guys back up under power and 'set' the anchor. Do you do that but don't film it??
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
We definitely do this now... with our CQR we only had it "bite" once while backing down, it would never really dig in for us. Now that we've upgraded to a Mantus, we back down at 1100 and we don't budge an inch - lately (the past month heading south) anchoring has been amazing!!
