Long time boater. First time viewer here. I have no idea how old you two are but I had to pause the video and just let you know how proud of you two I am. It’s great to see young adults “pushing their boundaries” and stepping headlong into a bold new experience. Well done! Keep the videos coming!

When the anchor is well buried use the boat to break it free. Pull in the chain so you are close to a 1:1 scope then just motor ahead on it. That will usually free it effortlessly. If it's really in there run a snubber to the sampson post to take the strain off the windless when you power forward.

If I could make a suggestion, it's a pretty good idea to loop a line several times from the Mantus hoop to your bow when you're underway, especially in rougher conditions. It takes a lot of stress off the anchor roller and also prevents the possibility of the anchor bouncing out of the roller altogether (ask me how I know this...)
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
Haha I won't ask how you know it... 😁 Thanks for the tip Deb, makes a lot of sense!

Another great video. What kind of washdown pump do you have. I have been searching for one to add t my boat, but there is so many negative reviews on pump. Would you recommend your particular brand?
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
We have the Jabsco 32605 washdown pump and it has worked fine for us. Disclaimer: we didn't choose it - it came with the boat installed so I'm not sure about alternatives! Also its our very first and only washdown pump so we don't have much experience for what is good or not. But it seems to do the job very well 😁

Crab pots, crabbing is a seasonal activity. Early spring through fall. Water men take in their pots over the winter. Crabs become inactive in the winter.

So do you call your anchor Agnes yet? Also, I have no patience for rude boaters either! What is wrong with people? That would have made me very nervous and those kind of folks make it hard to enjoy.

How do you guys take Ollie out for rest room breaks?
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
We typically just hop in the dinghy and plan out our anchorages accordingly. Hasn't been much of an issue thus far but we do have some turf onboard that we'd love her to use, but we haven't had much luck 😁

No lack of a-hole boaters not being respectful when passing, showing off. I record em and report em, karma is a bee-atch. Hope you get your sea legs. I get the best sleep ever on my boat, but I'm one of the lucky few that doesn't get sea sick. Hopefully that will become the norm for you. Safe travels....
@SchoandJo2 жыл бұрын
Thats a good strategy... we might start doing that. I'm convinced the first night is always the worst... Just getting used to all the different little noises along with the chop on the hull chines. After this night we've been slept fantastic!

@@SchoandJo there's this odd and strange fascination all good boaters have. They develop dog ears. The minute they hear something they don't recognize, they perk up and sniff it out until they understand what this new sound is. You know what I'm talking about..... hahahaha
