Obviously I shot this video quickly, but since doing so, a number of other ridiculous points have occurred to me about banning a 'broadhead arrow'. 1) Does that include flint arrowheads? That are almost impossible to date and come from the ground in fields? People still make them! 2) What about pikes and spears, which are essentially big broadheads? 3) Numerous metal badges and ornaments have broadhead arrow shapes on them as part of their design - curtain poles! 4) What about a weather vane with a broadhead arrow shape?...

Greetings from Germany where they also come for our crossbows at the moment. All these laws are a shameful thing. Simply because - there is hard statistics that the few still legal weapons are not relevant in crime. - a lot of things people do as a hobby come with risks. People die in accidents with horses every year, or in "mountain sports". In the Alpes a couple of hundred people die every year (Germany + Austria + Switzerland, summer + winter). => these weapons are not more dangerous than many other things, it is a discrimination to allow one person to ride a horse on the street but not annother person to own a crossbow.

@roblloyd1879 I was reading Handgunner magazine (UK) as a 16 year old in 1986 at boarding school. A UK shooting spokesman was waiting to speak to a Minister in his office. His aide asked him why? The reply, we don't want our handguns banned, we are law abiding citizens and sportsmen. The aide said 'it's not about the merits of the sport or the character of the sportsmen. The Govt sees social cohesion and Society failing and they don't want firearms in the community and out on the streets" or words to that effect. So, back then they were aware "multiculturalism" was failing. Now they are obviously scared for their own skins, and about insurrection/revolution, as they should be !

The right to bear arms for Protestants was established later in the Bill of Rights 1689, which was a separate document that also limited the power of the monarch and affirmed the rights of Parliament¹². The Bill of Rights 1689 stated: "That the subjects which are Protestants may have arms for their defence suitable to their conditions and as allowed by law."¹² The Bill of Rights 1689 was influenced by the ideas of John Locke, a political philosopher who argued that people have natural rights to life, liberty, and property, and that the government should protect these rights and be accountable to the people³. The Bill of Rights 1689 also inspired the United States Bill of Rights, which was added to the US Constitution in 1791 and declared the rights of the American people, including the right to keep and bear arms⁴⁵.

Grew up in the 50s, in a rural area. Shotgun in the corner behind a chair and I was given an air rifle from age 8. Often carried a sheath knife when out roaming or camping and we had permission to shoot in some areas. Used to shoot grey squirrels for the Forestry Commission bounty for the tails, two shillings and sixpence in old money. Always had a small penknife in school as did most boys. Teachers would ask to borrow them and the shame if yours was not sharp. To my certain knowledge nobody was stabbed or killed. I was listening to a politician on the Home Service (now radio 4) in the very late 50s on the subject of gun control. He openly admitted that the controls were coming in because of the government fear of insurrection. In the current climate of political disaster in the UK a lot of politicians are frightened and many have decided not to go for re-election. I have little sympathy for them as their disastrous policies have had a real impact on me including the premature deaths of my wife, aged 65 and a younger brother aged 66 back in 2020 due to the virtual shutdown of the NHS.

You can make semi-autonomous drone weapons from off the shelf parts, explosives with chemicals from rhe cornere store, & the majority of violent deadly crime over there is with small knives. Meanwhile UK politicians: Lets ban ancient weapons of war that haven't been relevant to crime, terrorism, or war longer than any of them, their parents, or even their grandparents have even been alive. This is actually just sad. Like setting aside the negative impact on law-abiding citizens. This like telling someone that it's hot out & instead of getting a parasol or turning on the AC they start throwing ice cubes at the sun. Its an actually pitiable level of stupid.

But arrows aren't just ancient weapons of war. They are available to almost anyone, along with bows and crossbows. They are unregulated, and Archery is a recognised sport. You don't need broadhead arrows for target archery. Modern broadheads are designed to penetrate flesh, to incapacitate or kill. A surprising number of people have been sentenced by the courts for threatening or injuring others with crossbows, and just because few people are killed by them, people HAVE been shot with arrows and crossbow bolts.

Its fairly easy to distinguish between points intended to do harm and collecting old points or replicates of old points. But every ban is an infringement of your freedoms, so i understand your upset and i fully agree with your protest. On the other hand, its not the end of the world either. Edit: after watching the whole rant I noticed its also banning crosbows and certain swords. That is ridiculous. Scared politicians will eventually ban everything that can be used as a weapon.

Your Govt probably have researchers working on the predictions of the possible occurrence of civil war and the ban includes what they roughly class as "distance" weapons (slings will next). Three methods of deploying fishing hooks and 60lb fishing line was demonstrated by a military friend of mine at his units yearly think-tank proving that they could entrap or restrict the movement of troops engaged in urban warfare or, more importantly, the movement of armed police response units through hallways in a building. He also demonstrated how 3D drawings on a floor caused troops to jump imaginary gaps on the floor. So...here we go.

Yet again, the government responds to a tiny issue instead of dealing with the big one. This proposal would, just like the gun and knife bans, take rights away from the law abiding, while doing little or nothing to address the real issue. Assault is one crime that attracts certain penalties, assault with a deadly weapon carries a much higher penalty, so there are laws already on the books that address the real issue.

This situation is not comparable to the carrying of a 12+ shot 9mm semi-automatic pistol being seen as normal, and those being immediately accessible to the stupid, the impassioned, and the desperate. If swords and crossbows were commonly being carried daily, kept by bedsides with the expectation of an intruder with their own sword, or used to kill spouses in the heat of arguments, I would 100% support a ban on them because that's an insane way to live.

The criminal act is what is illegal regardless of the thing is used during the act. The idea that someone is in possession of a thing is typically the way the law is able to detain and or prosecute. How do you detain a suspected murderer that has only used hands? It doesn't matter that the butler used the candle stick. It only matters that he did it. The candle stick is evidence. Are there people marching in the streets, demanding that the Government "immediately put a stop to crossbow crime"? _Really?_ Sadly, the risk of representative government is that you get the Government that the majority of your people deserve; and voters in the UK, as in so many other Westrrn nations, have spent the past 80 years affirmatively voting in favor of their own increasing infantilization at the hands of their Governments (of whatever Party).

Not until rich (elites) people use them, this same with golf balls. But when this sport becomes unpopular .... then probably yes.

The problem with the consultation is that there are so few people who care about this that there is no reason for them to consider the impact it will have on people who use crossbows. You can point out the futility of a ban (or licensing or whatever) but, they are fully aware that these laws are only cosmetic anyway, so there is no reason for them to consider whether it will actually accomplish anything. The accomplishment will be the publicity of being seen to be 'doing something'. It is most likely just a cosmetic consultation prior to a cosmetic ban. The UK is on a one-way street. These bans and restrictions will continue to happen until there is nothing left.

Bow hunting is banned in the UK, the only use of crossbows is for fun, and there is nothing wrong with that, bow hunting has been banned for a long time, as only the Elite should be allowed to hunt, tbh, it hasnt stopped hunting with bows, any more than speed signs have stopped speeding, people need to wise up and stop obeying these WEF worms and their laws, they are only designed to control the plebs, and created by corrupt people, protected by people with guns.

What made me angry, was I didn't find out about this until the day after the consultation ended. Our archery club were not approached or informed of this.....absolutely ridiculous, and deliberate in my view

I wonder where agricultural tools will stand in the laws. Like billhooks and slashhooks. Very useful tools for traditional hedge maintainence. Are tools exempt?
