I agree. I have a special needs daughter and when she started school she would be brought home.by taxi at 11 am ( short school day, we live in a small town, my dad used to drive taxi, I grew up with some of the drivers) well around April I was outside waiting for her taxi and it never came.. I panicked. Usually if the taxi is running late, the school would call and tell me " the driver is running late, She's still here" no phone call, So I assume she's in the taxi. It's literally a 3 minute drive.. 5 if you hit traffic and one red light. I call the school.. " Oh yeah she's still here, didn't the teacher call you? We've extended her day, She will be coming home at 1pm"..

You can't "overreact" when your son/daughter has gone missing, especially in this case! I mean, a 5-year old girl? If I was the child's mother, I would've called the police instead of calling the school. This was an extremely serious situation. I'd have done anything I could to get my daughter back. If this is overreacting when a child has gone missing, I wonder what your definition of overreacting is. I hope you're all safe in this hard time✌️

Honestly how do you drop a kid off 2800 feet from where you picked them up at. How? Also, does a WATERPARK look like a NEIGHBORHOOD?! I question the world sometimes. OMG my heart would completely drop if that were to ever happen to my child. As a mom myself, I absolutely agree with the mother and don't think she overreacted at all. She reacted the same way any devoted mom would. We send our children off to school and expect them to return safely. The school should be ashamed and someone should had been sued or arrested for child endangerment. Thank god a good samaritan had found the girl and helped her find her way home otherwise the situation could had ended up so much worse. My heart goes out to the family and I pray this never happens again. The school needs to make sure no other family go through this and have better protocols to prevent it. This is outrageous

My first day of school I remember my mother drove me there, I guess cuz I was her first kid so it was a special day for her. But she explained to me "this is the only day I'm going to drive you, every other day you will take the school bus." I misinterpreted this as meaning she was going to pick me up from school also, so did not get on the school bus and remember being alone and scared cuz mom never came. But luckily a neighbour came to pick up their kid and noticed me and drove me home lol. But anyways yeah I can totally see how something like this could happen, kids that small really don't understand the bus system and will just go with the flow. Adults at the school messed up big time.
