Hey Issac, Great channel, just stumbled into it a week ago and haven't really put it down. You've got a lot of great build ideas and practical innovations. A big one that stood out to me was leaving a space behind all the cabinets for running wire... its just so common sense and yet I hadn't thought of it. I went with this charge controller in the build that I'm doing, based off of @Will Prowse's channel. A MUST for off grind power! A cool thing to note is that if you install a shutoff for the solar panels, you can draw the full 50amps from the alternator charging, then when you're parked, turn the panels back on. I'm going to be installing a switch in an easy to access location for just this reason. Keep up the great work!

The pros about the Renogy all-in-one is it's cheaper than the individual ones, but the negative is it will only charge 30 or 50 amps max, which on a sunny day while driving is bad. That being said, I bought one and a 600W inverter new, but scratched up extensively, for $200. Worth it! I also have a 40A DC to DC converter I already bought, so maybe I'll run both, or put the other one on a switch. I bought the 20A, but Amazon sent me the 40A. Mom also had me order an 8x12 greenhouse, but they sent a 10x20, which actually was better in the end.

Nice video on the electric. Link is showing 170 amp hour battery. We decided to go with the separate MPPT charge controller and a separate DC to DC charger. Best way to make sure that you don't burn out your alternator. We decided to connect the DC to DC charger to a separate power switch as we didn't see a need to have it running with 360 watts on the roof when driving on sunny days. We installed shore power the same way. No need for a 30 amp hookup. Love the under cabinet lighting and the ability to have it dimable. Making all of those electrical connections under the bed made my muscles sore for a few days. It's always good to have help from friends. Check out RV with Tito channel. He has some great ideas for installing flexible solar panels. You guys are in the home stretch!

Here's what I did with my controller/dc to dc. Add a switch between the solar to the charger. It doesn't make sense to give up 25 amps of charging when you're charging dc to dc. From solar, (especially with a smaller solar system) to only get maybe 10 +/- amps. The switch turns off any reading of there being solar there, and you then can put the total 50 into he battery. If you're stationary for a bit, and getting good sun, turn it back on. The dc to dc being on and you only getting 25 amps max won't matter because you will never get close to 25 amps with your system. I have 400 amps of solar, and I don't know if I ever maxed out. Maybe with a perfect day, perfect time, etc. You can test this by just disconnecting the solar and connecting it again to try both ways to be sure it works for you.

😍😍😍 Okay, this one is also going into my skoolie tip playlist. LOVE the lighting installed under the countertops and kick plate in the couch. OMG, that is awesome!!! Oh, and it was installed under the bed, too!! Brilliant! It looks so good!!! I heard that Renogy has the best DC to DC chargers. It's a bummer about this one only using 25amp from each deal, rather than 40amp. That probably explains the small, compact size of this unit. Thanks for letting us know! I would probably need the demands of the full 40amp.

So this is almost identical to what I had originally specked out for my bus until my wife wanted to go big. Great choices! I did see one video that suggested with the latest version of that charge controller you can get full 50amps from solar or alternator as long as the other was not hooked up. So the guy put cut off switches to his alternator and solar to make the charge controller think the weren’t there. Don’t know if this works or not, but might be worth trying.
