It’s great to see a new video from you Ryan! Back in My School years, I always listened to the radios on the way and home to School. I always specifically liked hearing the radio checks from the other Buses in the area. Or just hearing the channels get switched from the past Bus drivers I had. I was on Cottage Hill Operating Bus Company. They’re Bus Yard is in Villa Park. (I’m pretty sure you’ve seen it many times though.) I think your Radio content is really cool!

Nice video Ryan! Rudy loves school buses ever since he was little! He's doing good but he has his sad days. He's been missing his dad a lot.

Nice bus, the only thing I don't like is where you have the radio positioned because it looks to be in a hard to reach area if you need to use it. Typically our buses have it located on top of the dash like in our Internationals or down by the cupholder on the Thomas C2.

I would do dash installations on all of these buses, but the problem with that is that here in Illinois, it is in violation of DOT to have anything on the dashboard. That's why the radios either have to go up or down. Most of our older Thomas buses and some of our IC buses have them mounted down somewhere facing up toward the driver. Those installations work, but what I don't like about them is that after a few years, dust collects in/on and absolutely cakes the speaker grills and buttons. Radios I've seen in our fleet that are mounted perfectly straight or are up facing downward have the cleanest controls.

@@msj191961 OK that's understandable, maybe there should be a certain way for a school bus manufacturers to include a open space what are you can easily install your radios.

I would hate how that microphone is mounted. Seems like it would be kinda hard to get it back in there while driving.

Hey 👋 I love these types of videos. I was wondering if you can make a video showing the office and what kind of Kenwood radio they have and what they use for receiving signals? I just put my application in my local school bus for a aide. But they have just upgraded all their radio equipment but I don’t see their channel listed with their call sign? I was wondering what you might think of that. My grand pop wants to report them to the fcc for private radio signals. I agree. There are a bunch of other school bus channels listed in my area but my local school. 😢

Hello. Thank you! As far as your video request, that would not be one I would be comfortable making because of where I would be filming. I have to be careful what I upload, where I film, and how much information is being given/shown when it comes to my workplace. I feel like I'm pushing it with these bus videos to be honest. I'm in very good standing with my bosses as well as regional and corporate and I want it to stay that way. I will tell you, though, it's really nothing too special. It's one of our NX-800H units sitting on a 12 volt power supply with a rigged up junction circuit box to run two microphones on it at the same time. There's a big fat coax cable coming out of it going to some probably ghetto antenna on the roof of the building. That's it. Nice, I hope you get the job! As far as their channel, I wouldn't jump to actions like that until you get more information. Just because their information isn't listed wherever doesn't necessarily mean they don't have a license. I would just ask them about it. Only report to the FCC if you are absolutely certain they are operating without a license, which is unlikely for a school district, bus company, etc.

@@msj191961 ok 👍 yes I will try asking for information like that. Because that seems very suspicious 🤨 to me. Thanks for your reply. I’ll keep you updated.

Are some of these radios digital now because around the time the buses are running if I tune around 152mhz in my area I hear little bursts of data and no chatter? And they are everywhere. Is there any way to decode them and hear what's being said?
