I love how you take care of your children’s nutrition intake and make sure they’re fed well so that they can focus in class! I wish more mothers were as aware as you. The one thing I’d like to mention though, is that pepperoni is a carcinogenic meat. My professors taught me that if a person eats lots of carcinogenic meat, it could contribute to colon cancer later on in life. I know you don’t always give your kids carcinogenic meats, but as someone who’s done their Honors Spec. in Nutrition & Dietetics, I’m using this comment to maybe inform other mothers to try to limit the amount of carcinogenic meat their family eats. Examples of carcinogenic meat are processed meat like salami, pepperoni, hot dogs, ham, sausages, any meat that’s been barbequed, beef jerky, and corned beef. Also, many people aren’t aware that any meat that’s been directly cooked in an air fryer is carcinogenic.

Just a very random comment... i think your son wants lunchables not for the food but for the experience. Knowing kids, its probably like the satisfaction of opening the packet, its presentation, the satisfaction of DIYing their lunch or just fittng in with their classmates. The pack is indeed not enough for lunch, you can add seperate lunch box along with the lunchables to fill it.

I gave it to him as an after school snack just to see how he feels about it. I do this as a test run so that if adjustments need to be made for a school lunch, I would be well prepared to do it. He wasn’t impressed so I offered to do it my way and I think both my kids were happy with it. I don’t pack school lunches unless I know they would eat it and the portion is sufficient.

I get that but we shouldn't teach our kids to want to fit in. This is coming from someone who hid their lunch because it wasn't western enough. Also, its not healthy. There were many junk foods that my mom stopped me from eating and I didn't die from that. I tasted them as a teen and hated it anyways. I don't think I'd give those things to my hypothetical kids anyway

@@medibear4059 let them learn. I did that too before because of peer pressure and I used to come home with unfinished packed lunch because I bought my lunch at school to be with friends. But as I matured, I learned to love my homemade lunch and not waste money on outside food. I think forcing your children to love what they should will only build more frustration that will make them hate homemade food more and crave food from outside even as they grow older because they can't have them. Let them love it naturally, teach them but don't impose

When I was younger my mom packed me good lunches but all my friends got lunchables! I really wanted a lunchable for lunch, not because of the food, but because everyone else ate them! So, I think your kids probably want them for that reason as well. So please don’t take it personally!

I'm thinking that too. Though it's sad because her kids are really the lucky ones. Not every kid had lunches packed by their family. Lunchables are fun, but they're not that great. Typically processed packaged food is not healthy either. They're not worth it really. Though when I was a kid, my mom would often tell me lunchables were too expensive. She bought them sometimes on sale or just as a treat, but they weren't common for me growing up.

Agreed. Lunchable portions filled me up the few times I had them in childhood. When I became a teen and had money of my own, I thought of buying so many lunchables. Then quickly realized cheese and crackers wasn't that amazing and I had to buy a lot to feel satisfied.

Children vary in size. It depends on their age. if one included a beverage and dessert, I am sure there are enough calories for a small child.

I love that the reason she didn’t want her kids to have a lunchable wasn’t for the content but because of the serving size! Lunchables do NOT fill us up and making sure her kids get the right portions is the right way to go!

Kids do NOT need all that extra sodium either. My mom used to send a container of veggies and/or fruits along with the lunchable. Most of the time I ended up eating them on the way home anyway.

@@toohottohandle0_0 Thats BS. That amount of sodium does NOTHING to healthy kids. Also, kids caloric intake vary with age- lunchables may be ok for some age groups or if additional items were packed with it.

The irony is these lil bento type lunches are mostly for show and don't even hold a whole sandwich and the shaped fruit and vegetables is cut so small its probably not even a serving

the health and safety advice in this video is off the chart lol. You can wash your hands after touching meat, that's why bare hands is better than gloves for food safety. Plus it's cooked meat so it's not going to harm anyone.

I know lunchables weren’t really enough to fill me up as a kid but I still loved them because they were yummy and my mom would usually give me more food after school. So it was a win for me. And honestly, kids love them. :)

I do something similar for my daughter and every once in awhile I’ll throw some chocolate frosting in a zip lock and a few m&m’s so she can make herself a dessert pizza. I remember feeling so cool as a kid when I had the lunchable with the dessert pizza 😂 it’s rare that she gets it because it’s a lot of sugar and I don’t with that sugar high on any teacher but she loves it when she gets it God Bless Your Family

I live with my nieces and they prefer my homemade lunches to their school lunches. They only like the school's "pizza Fridays". My homemade lunches complete with snacks: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (or two Lunchables), chips, an oatmeal pie, carrot and celery sticks with ranch dip, bananas, and two Capri Suns (one for snack, one for lunch). Whenever my nieces go to school with their homemade lunches, the kids constantly ask them enthusiastically: "Where'd you get all this food?!" The one girl who asked my niece this is now her best friend (the girl didnt like my niece prior to all this). They are envious beyond all reason.
