(I made this comment earlier, but something happened to it) I have a movie for you that has the best of all of your worlds: High Fidelity from 2000. It stars John Cusack, and, of course, sister Joanie, as well as early Jack Black stealing the show. It’s set in a vintage record store, so it sports a bitchin’ soundtrack, and is very meta with lots of 4th wall breakage. The record store guys are always creating their top 5 songs for one situation or another, and you get to see Jack Black throw down some classic R&B! I think you’ll really enjoy it, and it’s very underrated! I’m so glad you enjoyed School of Rock!

This is a 5-star review of a 5-star movie! I just got home from dropping off my eldest at his first day of middle school, so perfect timing. I love Jack Black so much and you're absolutely right, this was the perfect project for his specific skillset. I never really gave any thought to who else could play Dewey, but I was mulling it over during your video and I think the only other actor that could pull off the balance of keeping it real yet staying true to the role would be Pauly Shore. I know he's not for everyone, but then again neither is JB. As always, I love Love LOVE your content and look forward to your videos. I'm not one for parasocial relationships, but you (and Marc) are the kind of people I'd want to hang out with...so thank you for uploading. Have a rockin' week, David!

I literally wiggled with excitement in my work chair when I saw the notification for this on my phone lol. I know I always say 'I love this movie' but this has been my number 2 since I saw it when I was in high school, and the soundtrack is PHENOMENAL. I love how when Fancy Pants asked to be the stylist, Dewey was just like "okay sure you got it" and didn't even question it or make him feel bad for asking. You can tell he actually cares about the kids, he believes in them and still wants them to be happy. I could actually see Jack Black being a teacher in another life. The whole "I've touched your kids" line would totally be something that would come out of my mouth and then I'd be like "wait nO I MESSED UP" Even just in your reaction, their song in the competition made me tear up. The kids are all so talented and Dewey set every one of them free and got every single one of them to let their talents shine. It has stayed my second favorite movie for YEARS and I don't think it'll ever drop.

She was an amazing person who loved, LOVED being able to teach something as magical as music and/or musical instruments. All of her actual children, including me, we all learned how to play something(I think she wanted us to be like the Partridge family😂 ) So this movie hits me i the feel good zone due to my mother's influence in my musical life. This is a great feel-good movie. The only performance I may like more from Jack Black is Jumanji lol. Yeah, all the kids play the instruments - the director required that be the case if he were to accept being the director, and the back up singers really sing - they’re incredible. A fun fact I saw, is that the guy that played Lawrence actually went to the director and said he wasn’t right for the role. The director told him that the insecurity he had was a big reason why he was perfect for it. The convo that Lawrence had with Dewey about not being right for the band seems very fitting. Jack Black does play the guitar stuff except for the solos. I liked how Dewey’s costume at the end was a total rip off of AC/DC which seemed to be a main influence for the song. I don’t know if you have experienced this or know of anybody that does this, but there are times when someone just inexplicably dislikes a certain actor, and generally the reaction is “whhaaat?.” That’s my mom and Joan Cusack. She just hates her. I am assuming it’s her voice lol. Also, Miranda Cosgrove can sing. She actually took a “bad singing” lesson for when she sings “Memory” lol.
