Today the cozy little cabin presents our school room tour for 2020. Walk with me to the cozy little cabin schoolhouse in the woods here in New England. The birds are chirping, sun is shining and September is showing us her glory. Follow me!
Our homeschool room has changed quite a bit since it was first built last year. This cozy cabin is such a special place in my heart so I thought I would walk you through it and show you how we spend our days homeschooling.

Your videos always make me feel sooooo happy❤️ Loved seeing your school room!! I’m really not sure what I would call my homeschool style.. probably more eclectic! I like taking from a little bit of every style and tailoring it and changing it up every once in a while depending on the child and depending on the season! Sometimes we are very relaxed & feels like we are unschooling and other times we are more focused & structured! It’s always worked for us and somehow we get it all done❤️ But I guess that’s the beauty of homeschooling, right😃 You have the freedom to tailor it to your family & child’s needs😉

What a lovely school room, Kimmy! I have heard of the Waldorf learning method but have not tried it. We have been doing this for over 25 years and like you, we have collected many books. How thankful I am that we can have our little library during the shut down. We are mostly working with the Child Delight method and a mix of Charlotte Mason and classical Conversations. Each child learns so differently and we have embraced learning alongside them. Can't wait to see the Occean theme projects you and your boy will be doing. Thank you for the room inspiration, while I only have white IKEA shelves, I will strive to incorporate some warmth into the room by adding some color and small touches I like so much from your home. 💕

I love the Charlotte Mason philosophy as well! I’m a country girl all the way so it’s got lots of color in there. 🍂🍂🍂. I bet you have a wonderful book collection! What’s your favorite book to read to your children?

@@cozykimmi until they were/are reading on their own, our read aloud are mostly the children classics like Charlotte's Web, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Wizard of oz., etc. We also like the Lamplighters series. We have lots of picture books still and I keep them now for our grandbaby who will enjoy them soon enough. I always feel the book collecting hobby is more like an investment for the children's minds. Being able to read is such a gift, even though not all my children were/are reading at the "normal" age - some earlier some later. None the less, they all like books. I am sooo thankful for that..

Your schoolroom is stunning and so inspiring. It really helped our little family better understand the direction I had hoped to grow towards. This is our first year homeschooling. 😊 I noticed the Oak Meadow curriculum and was curious how you approach unit studies with oak meadow.

Thank you so much for those amazing and kind words! We poured our hearts into the space even though we are amateurs when it comes to building. I use a combination of curriculum. Oak Meadow is a great backbone! I also incorporate different themes every few weeks. Right now our theme is trees 🌲 so in addition to our normal curriculum we’re working on many projects and books related to that’s theme. My approach is Waldorf based and rich in literature. I also use book shark and love it. Congratulations on your first year! You can follow us more closely on IG ♥️♥️
