Aw this school is so supportive! Therapy animals are such a good and effective way to help calm down. It is good to see people who ACTUALLY have anxiety and actually getting help, rather than the ones that “claim” they have anxiety and act all quirky about it like “omg I’m so depressed” or “omgg I’m so scared.” It is good to see people who actually need the help.

What an outstanding Head Teacher this man is. He understands children. Pets in school and at home are very good for children. I feel our Academic Curriculum is too much for some children, and we need to talk to them and parents. I love that this Headmaster is a Superhero. A wonderful role model for children. And a Dyslexic. His gift has given him empathy, and the power to make learning more fun. Well done to this amazing school and Head Teacher. ♥️

They literally force kids at my school with anxiety to perform presentations. I think it’s very wrong since I suffer with terrible social anxiety and I also have a phobia of vomit and when I get put in a situation where I have to public speak or just do something that scares me, it gives me anxiety which makes me feel sick which then I am worried about being sick because I feel sick so I feel even more sick. I love how understanding this school was about the girls anxiety because my school is not like that :) xx

That chinchilla is so trained and calm. And it makes me so happy to see that he kept going back to Paige. Because even if animals want to explore a bit they are such sensitive creatures and some just know when then need to go and give comfort. It's like he could sense that SHE was the one who was anxious and needed help in a room full of children.

Bless her, I had anxiety symptoms throughout my childhood, my parents got me a dog. My symptoms have persisted throughout my life; I have learnt to recognise the physical symptoms that come with anxiety, I can acknowledge them as an essential part of me without being overwhelmed by them. It takes years of practice to stay calm as anxiety sweeps through your body and not snap back into a standard response, even now that still happens occasionally. It is worth the effort, anxiety will disrupt every aspect of your life if it is not addressed. This girl is exceptional brave for allowing this to be recorded, only someone who has walked the same path knows how she feels. She is on the right track to liberate herself from anxiety as she becomes an adult.

I’ve been asking my parents for months to get me a therapy animal to help with my severe anxiety (I’ve always found that I’m much happier and calmer around animals and I want to be able to have a bond with an animal of my own as I find it difficult to bond with people). I just want a pet I can play and cuddle with especially when things get overwhelming, such as a Cavapoo (or any dog of similar temperament), rabbit, cat or chinchilla. But my parents are being extremely insensitive about it and only allow me a hamster which bites and runs off every time I get her out. I don’t understand them, both of them grew up with cats and rabbits, and my mum always goes on walks with her friends dog. And yet they refuse to let me have a pet that could genuinely help me. Their argument against it is that I have to show them that I can be happy and always have a positive outlook, go on long walks in unfamiliar areas and help around the house even more. It isn’t fair that they use my anxiety and mental health against me like that, I always try my best but they fail to see it no matter how much I tell them I’m trying. COVID hasn’t exactly helped either. All I want them to realise is that in order to overcome problems presented by anxiety, I need help and assistance, non of which I get from anyone (at least not in the way I need it) so perhaps it’s worth venturing down the animal route. They’re more loyal and sensitive and most importantly don’t constantly nag you to fix your attitude and tell you how to act/feel. I don’t expect anyone to read this but typing it out has released some frustration I have surrounding my situation. I just feel like people can be ignorant and stuff and I have only ever felt at peace with animals, even before my mental health took a turn for the worst.

The amount of times I've watched this episode is unbelievable. I just wish that there was more support in some schools to teach staff how to deal with a panic attack. I once went to the wrong lesson so I went to student support to see my timetable it took so long I had a hot flush and broke down in tears a member of staff calmed me down but I just think it was a busy day and I just broke.
