I’ve received a few inquiries regarding our primary #education experience as an #American #Expat here in the #Algarve #Portugal so I thought I’d do a video to let you know what we decided for our son Jax, who is currently Year 5 National (10 years old).
When we arrived here, Jax was only 4 and he started at Eden #montessori School in #Albufeira. For those who don’t know anything about the #montessoricurriculum , we were thrilled to give Jax this experience and I love its pedagogy. It really encourages independence and self-motivation and a love of lifelong learning. Some famous Montessori alumni include Jeff Bezos (Founder and CEO of Amazon), Steph Curry (NBA Player), Larry Page and Sergei Brin (Founders of Google), Taylor Swift and Beyonce (Singers), Julia Child (Chef, Author) and Prince William, Prince Harry, and Prince George (and George Clooney!).
After 3 years of a Montessori education, we moved Jax to a more traditional, international #private school, Nobel International School in Lagoa, another fantastic school for numerous reasons but this is where Jax became fluent in Portuguese.
He now attends a top-ranked Portuguese #public school. 📚🌟
