My first day ever on skis (at age 42) was at Keystone in 1991. After 3 days on the bunny slopes, I decided to tackle School Marm. Although I fell once on the way down, I got right back up and completed it and then finished 2 more runs of the mountain before the end of the day. It was a tremendous confidence builder. 23 years later, when I finally had to give up skiing due to age, my final day was also at Keystone. It started and ended in exactly the same place. I gladly recommend anywhere in Summit County, you're not going to find a better place.

Schoolmarm is an excellent run... very fun for a green, can be crowded, but what a run and what a view from the top 🤟

If you're a beginner, and going to colorado epic resorts, Highly recommend Rip's ride in breckendrige. Really good slope to learn. It's not remotely as long as school marm so you can keep going up and down but its also not too short that you can't start practicing connecting your turns.

Schoolmarm is hard for a green run in my opinion for a skier. The way I describe it: flat, blue, flat, blue, etc for 3.5 miles. It's actually a lot of fun for more intermediate skiers - a solid warm up run before jumping on Spring Dipper or other blues at Keystone. Very similar experience to some green runs at Vail - the green rating is questionable to me. For novice skiers, you can lap Endeavor and Scout at the top or Discovery at the bottom - they are the only "mellow" greens at Keystone. There isn't really decent progression beyond that. Next step could be taking Peru lift and do the lower third of Schoolmarm - but there really isn't a good way to get from River Run base over to Peru lift beyond taking the shuttle. With the exception of lessons, I'd actually recommend skipping Keystone until you can do the easier blues at Breckenridge (Cashier/Bonanza). With that, Keystone has one of the better learning/first time experiences if you use the learning area at the top. But, paying Keystone prices to ski the carpet area is overkill unless you have an Epic pass. Bottom line is that Keystone is an intermediate mountain - period. Breckenridge (specifically peak 9) is far better for beginners.

I can agree 100% about it being the worst beginner trail cause when I first started skiing before switching to snowboarding I went down schoolmarm with my family cause it's supposed to be a green and I ended up hill bombing the first slope all the way to the family ski trip sign and got lost and scared until I saw my parents and sister 10/10 wouldn't recommend
