I asked my wife, who is a primary school teacher, why she thinks there has been an increase in home schooling. There are 3 main things are inclusion, behaviours and curriculum. The big one is inclusion, when they merged the special needs sections of schools into the regular classes and expected the classes to run the same way without extra support. So now in a class of, say, 25 the students with disabilities are getting 80 to 90% of the funding. Parents see this as unfair (rightly so) so they want to be in control of their kid's learning at home. Next is how behaviours are handled and managed within the school. Bullies aren't really dealt with in the same way as even 10 year ago. So bullied kids are pulled out of school by their parents for their own safety. Thirdly, the curriculum is so strict and sometimes not in a logical sequence so students are under-performing on paper which makes parents think they aren't learning anything so they pull the kids out to teach them in a better way at home.
@MrObvious125Ай бұрын
Your wife is wrong, the main reason people are pulling their kids out of school is because of the grooming that goes on in the classroom, ask yor wife about "The Genderbread Person" or "Welcome to Sex" or "Pride Day" or the litany of other perverted sh t they're teaching LITTLE kids... sick c nts!!!

😂😂😂 she's talking shit there's more teachers getting paid more for less hours in all schools and a huge lack of male influence in schools so responsibility is out the window and accountability is being stolen from Young people buy the feminist claptrap coming from the massive feminist influence in schools telling boys they're the problem and giving girls a free pass is a fail in the long run and the women teacher of the schools of Australia are at fault just because it's great for them doesn't mean it's working for kids men knew this but we're not listened to in schools and they will reap what the women have sowed just a observation the blokes putting up with those monsters want to get there wives away from it quickly or I feel sorry for you and most of you are the later
@pagetvido1850Ай бұрын
Yep that's what I've observed in the classroom. Misbehaviour soaks up the teachers and support workers attention. Kids are expected to ignore their neighbours who bully them or are disruptive in class, because the teacher has no consequences to offer. The priority is to keep the misbehaving children in the classroom in the hopes they learn from better socialised peers. Most kids just get distracted and can't work as well, a few actually end up stronger for it. It was very satisfying to see a group of well raised kids get together to tell a bully with the emotional behaviour of a 2 year old to grow up. Peer condemnation was the only thing the bullies responded to.

Right, well there must be something happening to cause more families to decide to home school. There are still good schools out there, but you really have to do your research and be very involved as a parent. Our school is independent and has an amazing literacy program. Our oldest daughter struggled in one school and they kept asking us to take her to a ‘behavioural optometrist’ (as if she was blind and therefore not learning to read) … turns out as soon as we came to our new school she learned to read with ease within a few weeks and she’s a very confident and prolific reader today. Aced all the Premier’s Reading Challenge - got every award. Even private or religious schools are often full of indoctrination and time wasting, not teaching core subjects but emotions and ‘projects’, which is often political activism. It’s truly appalling. We are very strict with our expectations of our school and very involved as parents. Our school is great.

I homeschool my 2 kids because they have disabilities that the school system would not cope with (we tried before pulling them out). ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia aren't even acknowledged by NDIS as disabilities, let alone DECs. The number of new registrations for homeschooling in SA is about 60 for this year alone, and majority would be due to disability. But we get no support from the government, so some kids will bounce back and forth, which is worse. The homeschool department has 6 people for (I believe) over a thousand families across the state... We are left to figure things out for ourselves. Many are homeschooling but not by choice.

In literacy, most kids are stumbling on fractions, percentages, decimals, and weights and measures. So what do they do? Well, they ignore it and just move on to algebra and trigonometry. If you don't understand fractions, you can't do algebra or trigonometry. Algebraic equations and trigonometry can be done with the flick of a mouse on computers today, just like you wouldn't do long division with pen and paper--you use a calculator. So all this is a waste of time. For literacy, which is English, there is a northern NSW school that gave this year's Year 10 students a grading assignment on the film Barbie. In the same school, history was mostly the Holocaust, Aboriginal rights, and the school is obsessed with the Vietnam War. Science included an excursion to a local beach after severe storms had damaged the beach, and, of course, the students had to complete an assignment on how 'climate change' was the cause of what was really a weather event. Students also had to do a ridiculous science experiment where tissues were stretched between two objects to see which ones were the strongest. Kids are dropping out en masse.

@josephbrady711 From what we have seen, we will try and go for "Child led" learning. You base your curriculum around the the main subjects based on their current interests.... for example we saw a video where a father indicated that his son was interested in Blacksmithing. So they got him to craft knives at a real black smith, looked at knives used in different wars to learn history, learned about the different metals and there melting points and make up in scince, etc etc. What ever the child is into you massage the learning around that theme. You need to be flexible but its totally child led interests. In Australia home-schooling just needs to be in the best interests of the child. There is no need to follow a set government made "Curriculum"

The Australian Academy of Science had a secondary science program called Science By Doing, an internet-based learning program, free and objective science in my professional opinion. Then in 2022, as a part of the curriculum review they sought guidance from teachers using the program, my offer to contribute was declined. The new edition elevated the priority attention to aboriginal perspectives and women in science. Incidentally, in the Bunbury Newspaper, a winner for regional teaching excellence said that her aim was to lift the image of mathematics within society. Given the unsatisfactory state of academic achievement in the education system both in terms of comparison with previous generations and international standards, neither curriculum edits and award systems will move the needle in the right direction. It’s purely cosmetics. What Nation are now building in our classrooms?

Qld school system... public is the worst in Australia ‼️... Australia is 14 th..in world education...on par with Mexico ‼️😲🇦🇺... donations to private schools are tax deductible... but not public ‼️🤷.. home schooling is growing ‼️

Reduce the size of education departments so that they focus on fundamentals and do away with any federal education departments. Grossly overstuffed areas are always going to make work and invent their own cottage industries.

That's well said, and sadly, it's true.

Proud homeschooler here. We just got our registration renewed and NESA gave us a full two years!!! Our son is in year 11 next year so he will do years 11 and 12 without the Department of Education needing to come out again at the end of year 11. Also, our AP said once he turns 17 we are no longer required to follow any mandatory subjects, meaning our son can study whatever the hell he wants in year 12. He will be going to TAFE then to do a free Smart and Skilled trade course. Right now he only studies Monday to Thursday for 3 hours a day. He trades shares in his free time. He just made $2,000 from an $100 investment and bought himself a gaming monitor and an iPhone.

My kinds when they were young went to a Demonstration School, this is where new teaching methods and curriculum are tried prior to roll out state wide. It was a disaster, the amount of home work in primary school was ridiculous, when speaking honestly the teachers would say the best they do was 2 hours a day productive work, anything else is fantasy.

It honestly astounds me on the large number of issues you and Pauline are up to speed with, with research and traceable facts. Do you lot get any sleep?

We assume people who teach are smart and know what they are doing, especially those who's job it is to create the curriculum. Here's an example of the nonsense being taught in some courses run by TAFE. "Once a month place you stones in full moonlight to cleanse and recharge your stones." This is real as I've seen it first hand in the course material.

Now we know how Mr Fireproof Pants spends his time, apart from press conferences, special events, inviting himself to functions overseas, looks like most public servants are on the coaching subscribe list from the Smoke & Mirrors Legacy Committee, headed by the "Pink Panther"...

It's amazing what happens when kids get fed fatty red meat and less junk food. IT'S THE FOOD. Carnivore Diet is proper human behaviour.

Apparently, if one believes what we've been told, our ancestors were hunter gatherers. That means they ate whatever the "planet" provided. So logical thinking would mean when Animals were not plentiful, perhaps due to migration, humans ate other things like berries and vegetables that grew before farming took over. I realise there's a really big push to forget about plants, and for sure, you go do that if it feels right for your individual person/family. However, the microbiome thrives on plant material, and we get our much needed potassium from Leafy greens, as well as other nutrients. So to whomever reads this, do proper research into things before just jumping on the next fad bandwagon and doing damage to your body, which you may only experience a long time after. Remember, the body is very good at compensating, until it cant anymore.
