Very emotional for every passionate sailor ...commercial shipping, either it is fishing or cargo transportation had been and are still the backbone for our modrrn life in comfort. My deepest respect for all the seamen who risked their lifes for this hard work. Cpt. JayR ( NL)

As a commercial fisherman for 40 years …I’d say these guys were tough . We don’t leave the dock now if the satellite tv or the air conditioning is out .

this type of fishing operation seems sustainable..on a personal note I can relate to the not wanting to do it again

Out on the vast and rolling sea, Our schooner sails with grace and glee, The salty wind upon our face, As we set out to fish with grace. The sky above a vast expanse, A sea of blue, our only chance, To catch the fish we need to thrive, To keep our families safe alive. With lines cast deep, we wait and watch, For any sign of fish we've caught, The gentle pull, the tug and strain, As we reel in our daily gain. The sun beats down, our skin it bakes, But still we work with skill and pace, Our hands are calloused, our muscles sore, But we press on, we need no more. For in the depths, the ocean's floor, Lies treasure untold, a boundless store, Of fish and shellfish, crab and more, Our livelihood, our hearts adore. And as we sail back to the shore, Our catch secured, we're all but sure, That tomorrow we'll set out once more, To fish the sea and earn our lore. Oh, the life of a fisherman, A life of toil, a life of zen, A life of beauty, a life of grace, Out on the sea, in our schooner's embrace.

Governments selling licences to other countrys...unable to enforce the 200 mile limit and the factory ships killed the Fisherys

If they'd have stuck to long line fishing instead of nets, there'd still be cod fishing.

This was the proper way to catch the fish for hundreds of years the basque fishermen caught fish on the Grand Banks with no damage to the sea bed then enter the draggers in a few decades the banks were scaped bare and damaged the doors on the trawls act the same as ploughs killing the sea beds and the source of the feed for the fish it will come back but unfortunately we won’t see it you are a long time dead

Good catch, thats why we dont have any fish anymore now.

Wrong. If they had only used hook and line fishing there would still be lots of fish. The quality and the price would be high enough to sustain a living. The draggers and netters with indiscriminate fishing destroyed the industry.

The diesal drag nets ruined it all

The reason we don’t have enough fish is because there’s too many people on this planet!
