That's such a classic piece of history, seeing the shipbuilders and the cape horners, excellent !

Wonderful! Oh the faces, the faces of bravery that comes from risk accepted and danger conquered. I've been around Cape Horn three times... (in a 14,000 ton ship, of steel, warm and well fed)

Me too. I went across once in the USS Nimitz in 2001.. I always thought about what it must have been like to sail in those old boats in the 60 foot seas of Cape Horn.

its no wonder they use diesel powered ships with satellite navigation now. the last big sailing ships that were made with metal hulls were called windjammers.

Tough men living tough lives. Even the ship builders not a winch or power tool. Building from trees not ordered and delivered timber

Iron men in wooden ships. MEN as hard as nails and brave to the bone.

Супер! Особенно Мыс Горн, каким я его видел три года назад 4 февраля 2019-го. И ещё удивительно как корабелы распаривали такие могучие пояса обшивки зимой! Да, были Люди! Есть чему поучиться нынешним поколениям...

Yep, i was going to volunteer on a similar style ship but decided against it when i heard about the ridiculous safety rules that they make you follow so now I'm just going to sail on my own ship so that I can do what i want without getting nagged about harnesses and stuff.
