A great collection of Schott's and appreciate your historical knowledge. I'm late to the party with Schott, recently bought a 618 out of Japan. I think my jacket likely late 80's or early 90's production. Interestingly, black leather but with the brass color hardware. Special order perhaps but the folks at Schott think the jacket is brown although they haven't seen more than my pics. BTW... your late 70's 36 in that greenish leather is incredible!

For like the last week I've been researching these jackets as I really just want a nice fitting Schott Perfecto, but man, in terms of the different fittings and qualities and whether or not to size up or stay true size etc., I've found it to be very frustrating. Being 5'11" with a 38" chest, I'd initially decided on a 618 size 40, but I'm now no longer sure. I was planning on buying a used one from Japan, but I'm now at the point of where I don't want to buy one unless I can try it on first - which sinply isn't possible.

@@ericeli5145 no such thing as a vintage 613. The model 613 only came out in the 90’s. What you’ll be getting is a 618. As for size, I’d say get a 38 in the Schott Bros bull tag from the 70’s

Great review and collection! Maybe I missed it, but what's your height, P2P, waist and chest measurements? If you don't mind me asking. I recently got 2 613US jackets used (made exclusively for the Japanese market, so they're cut slimmer than the US versions). One of them is a size 32, fits perfectly tight with a t-shirt, a little tight in the shoulders and back of collar (with this stretch and loosen with time?). The other I got was size 34, and it big enough to layer. For reference, I'm 5.7, 120lbs, chest is around 33".

@@LeatherJacketJawn Good to know, thanks. Interesting that the newer jackets are made larger... I wonder what that is considering slimmer fits seem to be more trendy these days. For the purposes of this comment and my question, 118 versus the 618…isn’t the lead number about the fit? If it starts with a 6 as in 618 then it’s slim fit versus starting with a 1 as in the 118 then it’s a regular fit. And if it ends with a VN, then it’s vintage and Schott provides a coating process for a softer leather feel and fit. I’ve been wearing Schott Jackets since the 70s and I think someone at the store mentioned it to me. BTW, I’m not expert just asking the question. I presently have 5 Schott jackets.
@LeatherJacketJawn7 ай бұрын
No, the 6 stands for steerhide and the 1 stands for naked cowhide. There was no sizing difference initially between a 118 and 618 but nowadays, yes, the 118 is the fuller cut and longer by an inch compared to the 618

A perfecto should be close together at the top and fall open at the bottom in a V shape when they are unzipped.They are built to do that. Also, the jackets with stars and snaps only on the collar are 613's. The ones with no stars and have snaps on the collar and lapels are 618's and 118's, with the 118 having a more generous cut and an extra inch in the length. I have 2 One Stars, one of which is t shirt only fit. I think they look best short and tight.
@LeatherJacketJawn8 ай бұрын
613 only came out in the 90’s, the older ones with stars and snaps only on the collar are 618’s, not 613’s. The fit of the Perfecto shouldn’t and will not flare out if it’s the correct length and sits at waist level the front panels will lay straight and open up in a V
@jffchang7 ай бұрын
@@LeatherJacketJawn Cool video--thanks. I'm pretty sure @waynekoren828 is correct. I believe the 613 came out in the 40s or 50s and has the stars and the 618 does not. I read a quote from Gail at Schott to that effect but it's possible I'm misremembering.
@LeatherJacketJawn7 ай бұрын
@@jffchang that’s incorrect. The model 618 only came out in the late 50’s/early 60’s. That’s according to the Schott book. And the model 613 only came out in the nineties.

I have a problem because sizes 38 and 40 are usually 19/20 inch! but in 17 inch and shoulder sizes they fit :( The question is, can I buy 20 inch and the "cushions" on the back of the shoulders will help me grab the steering wheel of the motorcycle? Because I checked in a 19 inch jacket, unfortunately it's hard to pull my arms forward (I checked in a regular jacket leather without "pillows" not perfecto jacket) I am asking for help from users of perfecto jackets because I am going crazy. How tall are you and how much do you weigh? It’s hard to say since the Perfecto sizing has changed pretty much every year. I think you’d be a size 40 in the 90’s Perfectos and a 42 in the older Perfectos 60’s and earlier. The shoulders are more important than the chest. I’m a small size so I don’t know how a size 40 measures but based on what you’re saying you’d be a size 40 in the 618 today
