whats crazy is using VR with the shrage musik, you get a real feel for where the shells are going if you use it often enough

I've actually used the Shrage Musik on the Ki-45 Tei to shoot down fighters (back when the Ho-5s were good at least)

In reality the gunner could reload the 20mms with reserve magazines. Hope they will implement this some day

I think they just decided to put all the shells in the mags you see in the x-ray. I believe the original drum magazines only could hold either 60 and later 90 shells each for the MG FF. What we have in WT may just represent the total number.

Oh yes, I knew the wings could hold to about 700 km/h but that dive took me way lower than I wanted to be for sure. If I had been lower, I would not have made it. They are great for hit and run bombing, but that is about it.

When you showed the ki45 in a dogfight I noticed the schräge Musik can compensate for the slower turn rate compared to a fighter because at half of the turns your 37mm cannons pointed towards the enemy plane.

I would like to say that the Ki-45 teis schräge musik isn’t half bad, it’s Ho5 cannons are great even if you have to be a little sparing with the ammo I love the fast fire rate and good velocity, you listed it’s 30 degree placement as a disadvantage as it wasn’t enough of an angle to protect you from the enemy’s gunners but this can be circumvented by flying below and then pitching up, you are also able to use it effectively against 2 engine and even some 1 engine planes (like US 1 engine naval bombers) the ki-45 can climb well and can easily climb a high enough degree climb to kill the enemy bomber while avoiding its defensive armament) the 30 degree angle helps against fighters in dogfight you can do some dirty things with it against a fighter looking for a headon or in a general turn fight that you couldn’t with one facing more vertically (as long as you have energy advantage which you typically do due to great climb rate) source: the only videos that I’ve posted on my channel this year, these were captured within one night (in some situations I may have been better off with 37mm but either ran out or wanted to give schräge musik a go)

The best Schräge musik in the game, sits on the P-61. Those 4 12.7mm MG can elevate 90 degrees and its an acutal turret you can control. You should try it, it works much better than the original Schräge Musik, sadly

German Jazz is better than Japanese Jazz. And apparently I can't spell, lost an R in Schräge somewhere 😫 Pyrson noted that I had forgotten the Ju 388, the old event vehicle. That plane also has access to the Schräge Musik, figures I forgot one. And in the same breath, I think the US P-61 has the best Schräge Musik system. Although its not meant to be as such, the turret on the P-61 can elevate 90 degrees and has powerful arrangement with 4 x 12.7 mm MGs. It being a turret means that is is much easier to aim.

@@أبوخالدابنابيسعود basically play it as if it was a bomber with guns...which it is. Stay at altitude, so you can manouvre and only go low if you want to hit ground targets. When Low the Do 217 is very sluggish and slow. Best used for hit and run type of attacks. And never try to turn fight with anything.

The Ki-45 is the best for using schräge Musik since you can actually use it on bombers (as intended) before they get shot down by your allies (because the plane climbs very fast).

So I got a kill with this by pulling below, ahead then pointing my nose up on a BV (who going down pilot sniped me while I was button mashing to get back to third person view lol) Despite dying I felt very clever and proud of myself. Now in seeing your video I realise I could have just used my rear gunner and not died... Lol

Thanks for this video especially. German heavy nightfighters are extra difficult to spade, even more than bombers I think, and there are so so many of them in the german tech tree. I have let the do217 sit idle in the hangar for some time and just now started to grind out the modifications. It proves quite the chore, since I only seem to get domination and airfield domination maps. As you mentioned climbing with this plane is atrocious and you are facing p47s and p38s anyway. By comparison, spading the Bf110 was a breeze. The cannon are awesome. Come to think of it, I have not been in a night battle for quite some time. Is this because I play too few battles or are they generally out of circulation? I think night battles are stunningly beautiful, a highlight in WT. Gone also are fog and cloud maps, but good riddance to those. Lastly, is there any practical use for the radar displays on WWII nightfighters? They are not an eyesore as such, but offer no value either, I pretty much blank them out as I would an ad banner.

Hi Armin. Last first. I thought about trying to make a video on the WW II radars, once I figured them out completely myself 🙃 Right now I think they MIGHT be useful in clouds, but I think that is it. I am not sure though, since I have not really looked into it yet. I don't think the radars have a lot of vertical guidance, but if they had, maybe they could be used to find planes flying low, since they can be hard to spot and if your crew is not set up for it you cant see everything in front and below you. I sometimes glance at the radar, but I also just mainly ignore it. think they would be most useful in Sim battles though. For me, the quickest way to spade the Do and Ju heavy fighters was just ground pounding. Find a quiet spot and just go ham, with all their cannons and MGs you can decimate targets very fast. I think you are right about the evening or night maps being out of the circulation, have not seen any for...half a year maybe ? that being said, I still play much more ground RB that air RB. Glad you got something positive from the video ! 👍

I think going inverted 🙃 would be fun to try once, but the inverted controls would make it....weird, lol. The forward facing guns have enough ammo to last for regular ground strafing, since it is rare you survive a whole match in that thing anyhow 🙂

The only kind of viable way to use the Ki 45 tei is as a ground attacker in ground rb as it gets two 250kg bombs. You only get one drop but it is a good amount of explosives for its br. I always took it out to delete b1 bis es and b1 ters. If you are lucky you can also get something lightly armored with the 37mm.

do 217 n2 i think i flew it 100 times only scored 2 kills with the top facing guns then i gave up after that ...gezzz was more frighten about fighters than getting a kill alot of sweaty shirts and tons of silver losses

Used the up facing 20mms yesterday, bastard climbed 7000m and spent a good time climbing for those pe8 cheeks, not effective compared to the other 20mms.

It is sadly not worth spending time on using them, sure its fun to finally get a kill with the schräge musik, but definitely have to work a lot for it, unless you are super lucky.

its funny you said that. I watched the video yesterday and noticed the reticle on the Ki-45 cross another plane a couple of times in a turn. But by the time I would have switched to the other view, since its not instantaneous, I would have missed. Could be cool if you did not have to switch views on the Ki-45 in order to use schräge musik. Personally, I think i'm much too slow on the keys in order to be able to use it in a dogfight 🙃

@@8BitDanefor the ki45 you need to be quick because of the speed and turn. But for the bf110 and do217 you can use it against planes in turns and reversals. Not to kill him but to spook him or damage him. If you can give it a try it could make a nice vid.

Schrage Musik should be something we can *disable at will* via keybind. I want to fire forwards but the tracers from these fucking guns piss me off immensely when I'm playing a plane that has forward facing and schrage. being unable to disable these makes some premium planes not even fun to play

I have set my keybind to Schräge Musik to "2", same key I use for diving breaks, but I am also using an MMO mouse with a keypad under my right thumb for ease of access. On a regular mouse it can be an issue for sure.

@@8BitDane This doesn't work for Weapon Selection - also once you toggle weapon selection on for the first time in war thunder, it cannot be turned off again because gaijin bugged controls and accidentally made it so weapon selection becomes mandatory for any use of your aircraft's armaments. This has been an issue since 1.77

Hi Ark, thanks - of course it is also about personal preferences 🙂I just believe that the Ki, with the low angle of the schräge musik, makes it difficult to get hits on the target without being hit by rear and ventral turrets. That fact combined with the low amount of ammo available makes it barely worth it compared to regular forward firing guns. BUT of course its great that the option is there at all.

I used to bully pt boats with the ki 45 schrage musiks after I ran out of 30 and 20 mm. Got more than 5 kills
