Chin Chin The Dark Lord Well the Wellington should be pretty well armored but it's too big to turn so I'm guessing when your engines go out you can't turn or make it back to base and the He-111 from what I know has little armor, I don't know for sure as I have never used it. Other than that I would recommend you just use American Bombers as they are the best. Avoid the Soviet ones the only good one they got is tu-4 lol

The rear gunners use to be the bain of my existence until I discovered some tricks: 1. Always make sure you have the right amount of gunners. If you bomber for example has 6 gunners but you have only 3 or 4 gunners, you are not going to get the results you need. If your plane has six gunners then, fully train 6 gunners. 2. Gunner Convergence: Most fighter pilots set their guns convergence for 300 or 400 metres at best. Therefore, I set my rear gunners convergence at 600m. I have found this is the best distance. By setting my gunners distance at that convergence my rear gunners start shooting at twice the distance of the fighters convergence. So, by time he get within his convergence, he is already shot to hell or dead. 3. In addition, I have found that after dropping my bombs and returning to base that, going into a ten degree decent makes me a harder target to hit, and gives both my top turret gunners and my belly gunners clear shot at the attacking fighter. Not only that but my bomber is much faster in a dive then most fighters can go. So, this way, I have all my gunners able to fire on the fighter, and I am pulling away from him too. OR, I throttle by bomber back to 30% thrust, and deploy the flaps keeping me nice and slow, and causing the fighter to overshoot me. BUT, by then he Is so close to my rear gunners they have no problem shooting him at such close range. What I have described is all using the AI. There does however, come times when the gunners are not killing the fighter fast enough to satisfy me, then I switch to the rear gunner and aim right at his engine. But to accomplish taking out his engine, I make sure I am using armour piercing ammo. This guarantees me, I take out his engine, and the shell is able to penetrate the pilots protective bullet proof glass. You mentioned the YER. I found the tactic I described above very effective in the YER. HECK one game I destroyed 4 fighters behind me, by going into a slight dive and letting just my AI gunners shoot them down. As soon as I dropped my bombs at 5k meters, I instantly turned towards our base, and went into a slight dive from their base to mine. Every fighter which got behind me, was destroyed doing this. I had the whole length of the map to descend back to my base to reload. Some attackers however, have tails which your rear gunner cannot shoot around. When in an attacker I will keep about 120m off the ground, this way, my rear gunner is always shooting up and not straight behind. Very few fighter pilots will drop that low, so you are almost always guaranteed your gunner will be shooting above your tail. And the odd fighter pilot who does over shoot and dives below you, you can shoot him with your front guns when he comes out on the other side in front of you.

This is really really good advice. I find the ai gunners fairly competent with training, ammo, long convergence, and good shooting angles like you said. More competent than me plus I can focus on flying well.

Yeah I find that if you point enough points into # of experienced gunners, max out fire accuracy, put a lot of points pin precision, some g-tolerance, at least a bit in vitality, that the AI gun crews can do a pretty good job. Once I got them well upgraded, I'm really only getting shot down by good fighters who approach from a good angle and kill me on the first pass, and the other half the time I'll be able to shoot down enemy fighters (especially those who approach from the rear) before they can take me out. Of course oftentimes I'll sustain bad enough damage that I won't really be able to maneuver around to make multiple passes in AB, so that's a bummer - but hey, a kill is a kill.

Here's another tip, when an enemy dives on you and you weren't expecting to, go the same way the tracers are going, countless times ive done the boom and zoom on an enemy and they roll into the wrong way and die

The ju87 tail twin MG81 is one of the more effective gunner in the game for what it is, due to the nature of the stuka of being an easy kill. It will demolish and light on fire all of the enemies you face off, although facing cannon wielding planes will make you sad.

Regarding 7:08 and the gunners and all that, setting the "pitch axis" in the settings to a mouse button works really well for me overall in warthunder and when in the gunner's view you can decently dodge enemy gunfire while still being in the gunners view. It is quite late to this topic, but it is highly recommended to mess around with this. The setting I use that works wonders for me is "Maximum value = MB4 and Minumum value = MB5". What it does in short is it makes the plane go up and down. Good luck on your War Thunder adventures.

@1:15 - works only in arcade and kind of in tank RB, but you wont get out alive, 20% chance only, since you'll be downed soon after by a swarm of fighters and whatnot, so basically such tactic is one way trip. Going high above by circling around own base or behind own base (spawn) can let you climb high and stay there at least until you bomb something and get to the next site, only few will be able to climb that high that fast, and fewer will even notice you if your team will keep them busy.

What you can do with some aircraft (if you know where the indicator would be) is to combine the lawnmoving and divebombing tactics, basicly approach the target at a 30-45 degree angle. This will give you speed to shoot back out, but won't give you too much.

In the early stukas, it's actual a lot more viable to sit in the gunner seat, you aren't out turning a biplane, but you can outrun them in a straight line, tank most of their weak mgs, and your gunner will light them on fire pretty quick if you know how to aim, Also if you turn you expose your cockpit whereas if you head-on or fly away you have armour between your pilot and gunner and the enemy fire

The bombers have changed A LOT over these four years. Just started to play this month, I am currently rank three and I nearly always play as a bomber. The dive, bomb and leave tactic isn't really working anymore, because before you get to the target the fighters are already right in your face and you are down (especially if it is a spitfire). What I do is go up up in the sky (5000 alt.) and go for the target. I try to be on a straight line with the target, so that I dont have to turn in the last moment. Then, if there are too many clouds, I go down below the clouds, so that I can see the target. Then I press f7 and when the crossair is right on the target, I bomb it. I usually tend to use bigger bombs in smaller amounts. On high altitudes as 5000 even a slight second makes a difference, so having twelve little bombs is a no-no. then I turn and go up, at that time I hold 3 to see how the bombs are going. I 89% hit the target with all of the bombs, destroying it or leaving a little for other bombers/fighters/attackers who can finish it off. And I return to the base. I hope this helps for war thunder 2020.

I fly the ju 87 a lot and figured out that if you know you can't outrun or out turn them, then use the gunner. If you use the right type of ammunition, you can destroy with the back gunners.

I remember always diving and flying tree top level with most of the heavy bombers back then trying to rush all of the bases (best ones were Halifax and Tu4) It was pretty effective especially with the Halifax and Tu4 but I feel like it's way more risky than it was before especially with the Italians and some weapon buffs Also I haven't done it recently because I don't use bombers that much but if the map (RB) has clouds covering most of it then it's best to dive with engines off, prop feathering on, and gunners off to go full stealth mode I've had enemy jets pass by my Tu4 so close I saw their wings and I was completely ignored by them but it has only happened twice and that was way before I stopped playing bombers

i have extreme difficulty trying to bomb tanks and ground at high alt in RB/SB except for bases cuz theyre so big and just get anything 1000kg+ and its 1 shot 1 kill does anyone have any advice about how to target small ground vehicles using the bomb sight at high alt?

Tip numbrer 1 dont bomb tanks from high alt(exeption PE 8 with FAB 5000). You had to be less then 1 km above ground. For that reason use light/front bombers Heavy fighters and attackers. Only when you rly need this tanks kills too win you should using strategic bomber.

The tank 1 lvl 1 Russian bombers (both) I get kills SOOO MUCH with the AI gunners so, I wouldn’t say it’s legendarily crap
