+Pdiddy Thanks! I always do my best to provide both the good and the bad. :)

Thanks mate, it really helps us out when the pro's and con's are laid bare for everyone to decide whether it's good for us or not. That goes all the products you and others review.

Good review thanks. Kinda hard to beat this for $30 with the sheath coming too. Badass knife and cheap enough to use carefree.. save your Benchmades and let these do the gnarley work.

Great review and pretty much the same results I got with mine. Especially the "not so sharp out of the box" part. Mine was just flat-out DULL! Fortunately, that's what my Work Sharp Ken Onion is for! Any idea what a good edge angle would be?dcr
@RealitySurvival8 жыл бұрын
+Dcr 72104 Thanks. I would probably go with a pretty fine angle since it is a mid sized knife not really made for heavy duty chopping. I would say maybe around 17 degrees? Idk.

Great review JJ. I'll have to look into this knife. I actually don't mind having a larger loop especially when it's a rigid belt loop like this knife sheath because it allows me to cant it forwards or to the rear so it's not uncomfortable when sitting in the car or something. It also allows the knife to be able to slide up and ride higher on the belt so the bottom of the sheath isn't digging into the car seat. That's the problem I have with my Mora companion sheath. How was the grip on the knife? I've heard some people complain that it's an extremely narrow handle and was somewhat uncomfortable.

+Dan Schwemin Jr Good points. I found the handle to be comfortable. However it is a bit narrow. But I do usually prefer smaller and narrower handles. I have mid sized hands so large thick handled knives dont fit me well.

This is a good video. Having said that you need to work on your knife safty.
@RealitySurvival8 жыл бұрын
Lol. Why is that?
@Gent-gl4hv8 жыл бұрын
+Reality Survival for starters no gloves, when you were notching the wood but (I like the by the way) you are putting the knife in the direction of your body and unprotected hands arms and stomach areas. I am teaching my grandsons life safety we talked about the bloody triangle and The Circle of Death while using a knife!...

I have never seen anyone try to split would like that doesn't look efficient
@RealitySurvival8 жыл бұрын
+Nanchi You learn something new everyday! Yes it is inefficient. It is an emergency technique to be used only when you have no other tool but a fixed blade knife.
@Nanchi8 жыл бұрын
+Reality Survival I've seen people baton a fixed before and just never like that also I have never bayonet by staying it through wood then prying to get it to split normally just put it on top of wood and hammer it through

+Nanchi cool. These are just the techniques that I thought at the ISAF Survival school. Pretty standard stuff as far as I know.

Nanchi well im not sure what to tell ya. I reviewed the video to make sure I disnt throw in anything unusual and it is all pretty basic bushcraft stuff. Nothing really unusual at all in the vid. Are you new to bushcraft?
