@Restaurierung9 ай бұрын

Anyone else enjoy just sitting on the floor maybe going through his treasured spare parts in the drawers of the workshop? This is one of the most beautiful restorations I’ve seen. Quality work with obvious love and commitment to bringing it back to its glory! Bravo 👏 Sir!
@Restaurierung5 ай бұрын
The spare parts are super valuable because you can't buy them today. In the past there were no DIN standards and therefore you always have to pay attention to the accuracy of the fit. The right era is also crucial. But they are right. I love the old locks and keys, the old hand-forged parts that were made with loving details and a lot of time

@susanwhittaker8659 ай бұрын

Your combination of top-level videography and photography is unmatched, as is your restoration work. It would be very interesting if the original owner was identified, family tree constructed, and living descendants contacted to see the video, but that is just a fantasy. The thought has occurred to me that the cupboard may have been left behind by a family which immigrated to America or elsewhere. Below are the major immigration waves by Germans to the U.S.: 1700s - The settling of the British colonies by small German-speaking religious groups continued. The groups included Swiss Mennonites, Baptist Dunkers, Schwenkfelders, Moravians, Amish, and Waldensians; most German immigrants belonged to the main Lutheran and Reformed churches. The central colonies received the greatest part of this immigration, especially Pennsylvania. 1790 - By this date as many as 100,000 Germans may have immigrated to America; they and their descendants made up an estimated 8.6 percent of the population of the United States; in Pennsylvania they accounted for 33 percent of the population; in Maryland for 12 percent. 1848-49 - The failure of the revolutions of 1848 to establish democracy caused thousands to leave Germany to settle in America; the most famous of these refugees was Carl Schurz. He later served as a Union general in the Civil War, a United States senator from Missouri, and secretary of the interior under President Rutherford B. Hayes. 1850s - Nearly one million Germans immigrated to America in this decade, one of the peak periods of German immigration; in 1854 alone, 215,000 Germans arrived in this country. 1860 - An estimated 1.3 million German-born immigrants resided in the United States; 200 German-language magazines and newspapers were published in this country; in St. Louis alone, there were seven German-language newspapers.

@Restaurierung9 ай бұрын

You really do beautiful work! I would love to be able to replicate the wood stain/ graining technique you show in this video. What product[s] do you use?
@Restaurierung9 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your comment. I use the things that were found on the farm 200 years ago. flour sugar egg beer walnut shells. The colors are grinded stones and earth. For example Terra de sienna from italy. The important point are the old technics, not the product. When i started i worked for a few years with an old experienced Restaurator and tried to learn as much as possible from him.
