This song perfectly describes the feeling of waking up from a really beautiful dream and just wanting to fall asleep and continue dreaming

There's a great book : The Book of Lieder: 1000 of the greatest chosen and translated by Richard Stokes : published 2005 : FABER AND FABER. London. The original text faces the translation. and there are biographical sketches of the composers and the poets. Superb.

No matter how beautifully this song is sung there will ALWAYS be idiots who have to click the dislike button. I wish KZbin would get rid of it. If you don't like something just move on.
Thank you so much! It's painstaking work sometimes to get it just right, but I feel the music deserves my best efforts. This is a glorious song.

FiDiTanzer528. Your video is beautiful and is perfect with this lied, one of the most sublime of Schubert's lieder. The poetry is so sensitive and human, it makes me weep. Fischer-Dieskau's singing of course goes straight to the heart. In my opinion, he stands above all others in this interpretation and technique as he is accompanied deservedly so by the great Gerald Moore. Thank you for your effort, it's beautiful and you have made a lot of people happy.

Matthäus Kasimir von Collin (1779-1824) Night and dreams Holy night, you sink down; Dreams also float down As your moonlight fills the room, Fills the sleeping hearts of men. They listen with pleasure; Crying, when the day awakes: Return, fair night! Fair dreams, return!

@NicolasGarciaLieberman8 жыл бұрын

In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. Job 33:15-17 Ah, beautiful sleep, when ancient and modern man sips of eternity in an instant!
