@@МихаилЭман-в8е Compared to the glories of music, I suppose politics is NOT "interesting" though it is, of course, necessary. Many great musicians, it seems, have demonstrated political inadequacy or worse.

I love the Soviet announcer at the beginning of each piece in the concert--all business, no warmth despite the splendor that is to follow. I remember such people (especially women) during my two visits to the Soviet Union in 1968 and 1970.

@@jamesnickoloff6692 I was working in Japan at the time. I passed through Moscow several times on the way to Spain, to visit my family. I went to many concerts in Japan, as you know they love classical music. In fact my Japanese friends introduced me to classical music, and to Richter. I even bought a Yamaha piano that traveled with me around the world, but I never played well
