Schumacher CAT L1R Full Review! - Best 4wd RC race buggy?

I have a 22X4 Elite and jI can't jive with shaft drive, so I picking up one of these, tomorrow.. Belt drive cars are just smoother and the torque of the drive shaft tweaking the chassis, like strong servos did, before floating mounts is most unpleasant.I bought a KC Cougar and the L1R is very much like a 4WD version of that car, many common parts. I put the alloy bleeder shock caps on my Cougar and I'll do the same to the L1R. Nice review, thanks!

I'm telling you once again you need to build an review the sworks buggies. The s104 evo and the 2wd buggy was the last 2 I bought an built and they where the best value bar none with the amount of parts and included hop up parts the adjustment stuff the components top notch they drove absolutely amazing on medium to high grip dirt tracks even though they truly shine on euro carpet surfaces. I was a fan of losi and tlr threw out my off road race career as a club level driver. But when I switched to the original s104 loved it then put the evo conversion on it loved it even more. So I bought the s104 evo full kit which was even better. Damn car was bullet proof literally as nothing broke and I am not a nice guy on my equipment. You need to review the latest sworks stuff and you will not regret it an will only ask yourself why it took you so long to due so

Great video as always! I am sure you are aware of the aluminum shock spring cups that Schumacher (U4890) offer. Retention of the springs should be slightly better with these parts.

All you have to do is grab the bottom coil on the spring with a pair of pliers and lightly squeeze them. Mine never come off the cup on any of my schumacher buggies or trucks.

How do open belts do In outdoor dirt conditions? Where I live we do a lot of 1/10 racing on outdoor 1/8 tracks, which can be dusty. Ive always had a soft spot for belt 4WD for the smoothness, sad to see Schumacher being the last one out there.

In the bicycle world belts are considered almost maintenance free due to their ability to sort of self clean any mud and dirt. I am interested in your thoughts as to why it does not apply to RC cars. Smaller teeth or something?

i think a small belt at much higher rpm would be wearing much faster than a bike chain just do to more rotations

You have to turn that T6.1 into a SC6.4 now.

I have no idea how you broke this car…I’m a newer driver and have put this thing through hell at an off road dirt track and can’t break it.

@Sauli Luolajan-Mikkola Hirobo were the first, then the Bulldog and Yokomo. Kyosho started the belt drive in the Optima Mid. I had the Turbo Optima, which was certainly chain drive.

I really don't understand the "Value" score of 4 stars. If there are only 2 buggies that cost more.... 2 that cost less.... and an industry standard rig that already consistently wins more than this.... HOW did you rank this ABOVE average? At BEST, logic mathematically dictates an average score. And with LESS parts availability, it should be LUCKY to score that high. I am a Schumacher fan myself. I truly am. I have one of their kits waiting to be built at this very moment. But... come on man... you can't share the same price point as a B74.2 and then in the SAME video be like "So, this is an above average deal!"

Also, the B74.1 is still selling for like 360 at Amain.... which could very well be considered a better setup. So.... 4 stars... that is INSANE.

It's based on the cost of the parts that come in the box. Tamiya could make a cheap ABS plastic 4wd buggy that drives well for $300, but that doesn't automatically make it a 5 star rating, because it's full of cheap materials. You could send me a car made out of 24k gold for $1000 and it WOULD get 5 stars because it's an expensive car. So it's basically how much profit margin is being made off of you (i.e. how much you're getting ripped off). The L1R is a pretty expensive car to make (more than shaft drive cars), but they kept the price reasonable.
