Rubens once said that if both were still at Ferrari, possibly he would have let Schumacher pass or maintain the position. But as both were on different teams, Barrichello stated that at that time, he would NEVER take his foot off the gas, even if he died from that position.

They are going fast in relation to stationary objects but between them they are slow. When Schumacher closes in, Barrichello knows that by keeping the cars side by side is the only choice. Lifting, slowing down or using the break would only create a massive havok because Schumacher's right rear tire would hit and jump (destroy both) Barrichello's left front tire.

Schumacher was incredible, but every now and then he did something pretty dirty like this (or Monaco qualifying, Adelaide 94, Jerez 97 etc). And his teammates were always there entirely for his benefit e.g. Barrichello having to give him the lead on the last lap of the Austrian GP. But that, combined with serious skill was how he won 7 titles where many struggle to even win 1.

Rubinho always respected what his bosses at ferrari demanded from him because it was agreed beforehand and he is a pro above all else. Once he left Michael's shadow, he almost became champion and remained much more compeitive than his old partner. Of course that has to do with the time Schumi spent away from f1, but that was his choice and when he came back, he wasn't at the same level anymore.

The Shumi pressure just gave more shine the Barrichello overtake and made this remarkable!

Not for team orders in Ferrari, you will see more overtaking and wins from Barichello

As well as what a potentially catastrophic incident that could have been, it's also remarkable that this clip shows a Williams overtaking a Mercedes! How times have changed... Just imagine what Schumi could have done back then with the kind of performance edge Mercedes now has over the field? His second career would almost certainly have added to his existing title tally.

Both Schumacher and Senna were dirty drivers when attempting to pass them. They would slam you to the wall, without thinking about it twice.Senna at his last two years became more mature as a driver and stopped closing the door completely. Schumacher though continued this kind of shit till the end of his career.

I remember Derek Warwick - who was the drivers steward at this race wanted to blag flag Michael immediately but the other stewards did not agree with him so he couldn't.

Derek is a .......###.... Not the best choice for a steward - very emotional, very subjective and a fckn nationalist. Moments like these are why we love F1 and some winless cunts from Hampshire trying to take it from us.

Zygimantas Zukauskas Derek Warwick had the same thing happen to him at the Nurburgring when they were in sports cars. Schumacher chopped Warwick’s Jag and afterwards Warwick went to punch him. It took the entire crew and Warwick’s co drivers to stop him. Schumacher continued to do it for the rest of his career.
