Home Tour: Jeffry Weisman

Looking for a breath of fresh air? Critically acclaimed designer known for his use of luxe materials and carefully thought-out interiors that have a sense of style and comfort, Jeffry Weisman, gives us a tour of his and Andrew Fisher’s Casa Acanto located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Once an 18th century tannery, the now residential home was built up from the stones by Weisman and Fisher to create a space that is filled with artful craftsmanship, local materials, and brilliantly inspired design elements including brick dome architecture traditional to the area. Fisher and Weisman are renowned for their artistic perspective and intelligent designs that culminate to create fantastic spaces for their firm Fisher Weisman Brugioni and pieces for their Fisher Weisman Collection.
The home is full of furniture, lighting, and decor from their Fisher Weisman Collection, special pieces collected from their global travels, as well as custom pieces the two created and commissioned from artisan makers. This includes the fireplace that is ornately carved out of local limestone adding historic character to the dining room, and a wooden-mirrored armoire in the breakfast room that amusingly masks the entrance to the garage. Magnificent stone and tile that is local to San Miguel harmoniously connecting the spacious and picturesque outdoor living spaces to the artfully detailed interior. Several uniquely detailed light fixtures of grandiose scale and remarkable materials including paper mâché and shell are highlighted inside and outside of the home. Possibly the most distinctive is the chandelier in the oval bathroom below the sky light that also fills the stand alone bathtub. Casa Acanto is characteristic of Weisman and Fisher’s marvelously creative and sensible designs. Featured in the casita located off the idyllic pool area, is Schumacher’s St. Tropez fabric.

Breath-taking. What an incredible job he and his team of builders and craftsmen did. Not to mention the decor, interior decoration and staging with those gorgeous flowers. And gardens in San Miguel de Allende are heavenly. He just has such a terrific eye for design that honours the local vernacular and keeps all architectural details in keeping with historic context...so intelligently and beautifully done. What I love the most about that house , is the garden 🪴 , the house is nice , but.
