I love the whole place, especially the kitchen. She said one should have possessions, not props. I couldn't agree more. I've seen some people decorate with props (like fake "old" suitcases) and it always looks so contrived or like it's a shop display.

This is the difference between American and English designers- Brits tend to love a very cozy, non-pretentious atmosphere whilst many US based designers are crazy over Parisian/European style that almost every IG home influencer I see has the same wall moulding, french tapestry, hunting scenery wallpaper in their homes... Just an observation, not one is better than the other just a different take on things, is all. Lovely home ❤️

Her home (this one, not the farmhouse) is featured also in House & Garden, but the staircase and stair area was painted a much darker shade of blue with the stairs a dark green --looks like she changed it again:). Which just goes to show, even designers don't get it "right" the first time, even when redoing what they did before:). Love Rita's designs no matter the project.

I moved from a large house to a small one and of course had to choose furniture to keep. I made a scale plan of the room and cut out pieces of card to scale for each piece of furniture. I had to leave so much, many favorites but I didn't want to climb over furniture. I had to sacrifice a door for a huge bookcase build but there is another door into the hallway. Luckilly the main room has very high ceilings. When I work out the plans and fabrics and colours I tend to then NOT do anything as in my head it's all done !

Wow, your mother is the famous Nina Campbell. I like the warm colors of the living room although you are totally right Ms. Rita Konig in time we love our not so elegant "larger than life" furniture, paintings, etc, etc. yet we do not throw away. However, having said that. Your mother is loved in New York in the USA and she is so grand, stylish, regal. One would think that you would have a English revival manor in London or on the countryside with beautiful palace windows and curtains and very English chintz, chinoiserie, mahogany furnishings and paintings from English world renowned artist. Thank you for sharing and a blessed 2025.
