I've never really liked Schumann's music, but this performance moved me for the first time.

Yet again, Volodos discovers and communicates to us the truth of this music. He is translating Schumann's story to us. Of the living pianists, he is one of the very few who are spiritually devoted to composers, an eremite of sorts. His concert career is simply a means to an end, the end being to understand what these composers meant. That is why he is so selective with his repertoire and his public appearances. Thank you kindly for this upload! Do you happen to have the rest of the recital perhaps? Here's to another one of hopefully many years of this man's music!

I’m going to see him twice in May. In Gent he’ll play this and in Namen the Kreisleriana. The rest of the program will be the same. And I will see him in December in Brussels. That program will be Sonate op. 25/5 Muzio Clementi 7 Fantasieën, op. 116 Johannes Brahms Sonate voor piano, op. 53, D 850 Franz Schubert

Dag Jeroen, ik ben (ook) ene pianofanaat en woon in Gent. Ik organiseer er gemiddeld 5 pianorecitals per jaar voor jonge talenten (in de CUltuurkapel Sint-Vincent). Helaas is de Kapel tot eind dit jaar dicht. Ik hoorde Volodos vorige week op het (openlucht) Festival de la Roque d'Anthéron, hét mekka voor alle pianoliefhebbers. No words!

Erik Vertriest Dag Erik, heb al verschillende keren live gehoord, idd no words. De man kan ongelooflijk fluisterzacht spelen en toch een warme klank produceren, dat vind ik indrukwekkender dan de technische hoogstandjes. Hopelijk gaat het recital in de Bozar in de December wel door!
