A clean, clear yet lovely performance! Amazing how natural and relaxed your hands are. Your gradual crescendo is top notch. Don't mind people complaining about the tempo. There are literally hundreds of slower interpretations exist, it's nice to have broader options, different take on. Very enjoyable.

I love the slightly faster tempo! Reminds me of the original version, wonderfully played.

Much faster than I’m accustomed to; will take a few listenings to hear it more objectively!

I believe that the point of listening and playing music is to exercise extreme subjectivity😅😂 so it’s not a problem if it didn’t convince you!

@@DenZhdanovPianist Your interpretation, if not immediately convincing to me, did something equally valuable -- prompted me to think about something a little more deeply than the immediate pleasure of fulfilled expectations.

Beautifully lyrical, Denis, bello! ❤ 👏 ❤ As I sung all this repertoire, adored Schumann!, now that I again perform (modest) piano concerts, I don't feel playing Lieder-transcriptions. The original piano score and marvellous poetry sung is still too vividly alive into my soul...

Very, VERY beautiful Denis! This is one of my favorite pieces. I like the tempo you chose just fine. My favorite interpretation of this piece is by Yundi Li.

Often I learn something because my students bring those pieces to a lesson and I’d (re)discover a piece and learn it myself. Often, it’s a commission for an event, and I try to record whatever I’d prepare for a performance.

Ja.

Although some might see this piece as sappy, I enjoy it very much! I liked your interpretation; it was not too rushed for me. I would be interested in hearing the Goyescas suite, it has really fascinated me lately.

It’s very helpful to have the score in the video and follow what interpretive choices you were making. I always think of how Clara Schumann didn’t like Liszt’s transcription of this song. After listening to your performance, I realized Liszt’s version must have been completely different from how Schumann expressed his love for Clara in it. Knowing Liszt’s life and the women involved, this sense of grandiosity (?) in this delivery becomes more poignant. I was definitely hearing Liszt in your rendition!
@DenZhdanovPianist3 ай бұрын
You're probably right! It looks like Liszt didn’t care about Clara’s opinion too much. He also didn’t end up in a psychiatric hospital, who knows is it really a coincidence 😳😅😂

Considering together with the lyrics that are filled with deep affection , I personally prefer it slightly slowered like Andante . I like Korean pianist Yeol Eum Son’s version .
@DenZhdanovPianist3 ай бұрын
In my subjective opinion, “deep affection” needs a certain amount of excitement, and therefore I like when this piece flows closer to the original vocal version’s tempo. I have nothing against slower versions, which to me sound rather dreamy-passively

Thanks for your opinions! It’s fun when people disagree!🫶 I love Lang Lang’s and Trifonov’s versions, such approach is rather common. I also love Argerich’s and Freire’s approach. As my teacher once said, any choice is about losing other options…
@Chopin-Etudes-Cosplay3 ай бұрын
Actually if you listen to the original song, the tempo is quite fast. So there is a logical argument to playing this faster, even though my taste is to play slower too (for now).
@Petros1063 ай бұрын
So why are you racing through this?

Have you even heard the original? If some famous pianists chose to play it in a cheesy slow tempo, it does not mean it’s the only option now😆
