Engineer here responding to 17:18: If you weigh more, the potential for frictional force is greater. The equation is Fmax=μN, where Fmax is the maximum frictional force before slippage occurs (edit: or if slippage is already occurring, the force at which slippage is being counteracted), μ is the coefficient of friction (determined by the abutted surfaces and would be constant for argument sake), and N is the normal force (in simple terms, how heavy you are). This is obviously a very simplified model, but yeah - the bigger and heavier you are, the more frictional force will be present, preventing slippage. Bonus material - things to consider if you wish to dive deeper: Shoe material and design will affect μ, so μ is definitely not constant between the two players. The players were not at the exact same spot when the release occurred, and even if they were there could be pebbles and other things also affecting μ. There are two μ constants - one is μs which is static and the other is μk which is dynamic. A typical throw will be dynamic in nature (slipping), but the concepts are the same between the two, just pointing out there are two coefficients to figure. N is normal to the surface and perpendicular to the slip, so if you're on a slant of any sort the portion of your weight fighting slippage will be less than a perfectly flat plane. This doesn't really matter since they're throwing from the same pad with the same inclination, so the ratios of N will be the same either way. I'm sure there's more, but I'm not a statics/dynamics expert.

Love seeing Will back! Little story: I had the pleasure of meeting Will once at Maple Hill. It was the final round, I forget which year, and I actually found his disc on hole 10 during the round. He had thrown it into the woods on the left and it was absolutely buried underneath the leaves, so much so that they had to call the clock when we started looking for it. I just started sweeping up random piles of leaves with my feet and my hands and the pile that his disc was under was so unassuming. I mean you couldn't see his disc under the pile at all and it looked completely undisturbed. I felt so incredibly fortunate to have found it and helped him not to lose that stroke. After the round, me and the group of friends I was with all talked to him for a little because we just wanted to say hi to a legend, and he was incredibly kind and conversational. I didn't even tell him that I was the one who found his disc, and he just decided to give us all signed PA3's. He just did that because he's a nice guy.
