I love the different football helmets, padding and technologies. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this vid. I don't play anymore, but man, these helmets beat the old Bike helmets I wore in the 80's in high school! Yeah, I'm a helmet geek. But I am not ashamed LOL!

It's not a problem. That's going to depend on which facemask you have and what helmet you have. As long as the helmet fits and the facemask is attached correctly you are good.

I think it's better because it provides better protection. The weight is something you get used to but it is definitely heavier I think.

I love the helments reviews... gave me a great insight and helped me work on my Ion 4D. With that said, I just realized you played for the Lyden Lions (MSFL). I play for the Racine Raiders, this is cool, its a small world I see.

Hey man, love your vids. You were saying that the visor clamps on your facemask get in the way of your vision, now Im not sure if you still have this helmet but one suggestion might be to just ziptie the visor on to substitute the clamps. May look a little bush league but a perfect compromise for better vision in my opinion. Keep up the great review work dude. Always fun to check out new gear. Thanks for everything!

I test everything either in practice or a game. I use multiple helmet throughout the season.

Excellent review. If you don't like the screws that are on your helmet, you can buy the quarter-turn screws separately from Football America(Team Express). The thing is, the hardware is $30 per pair and you would need 2 pairs, so that's $60 plus the cost of shipping. You might also need to drill the holes slightly larger but you should still be able to use that twist-release attachment for the facemask. Might not be worth the extra trouble and money to you though, but it's a thought.

It's the same as the regular Air XP only with dual compression TPU. It protects you better than a regular XP

Check the how to playlist to modify it and if the clips don't fit after you cut the visor then use zip ties from Home Depot. They sell small black zip ties and I used two zip ties per side.

I have a Schutt Vengeance for my past season of Varsity football, and at first was hesitant to take apart the helmet, but after practices and games, it got really nasty and musty. So I was forced to take it apart and wash it down, when i was taking it apart it honest wasn't that bad, When you unscrew the screws the DCT components all come out, and is very easy to put back together.

It doesn't have an absorption pad but I did t really sweat since its 40 degrees outside for practice.

Naw my cousin used it at running back and safety. It's more of a linebacker and runningback mask than DB tho.

I think there are league rules. I don't think you are allowed to use an adult helmet in 8th grade but it depends on your league.

At corner I will probably use my Speed with the S2B facemask. That facemask gives incredible visibility which I love in man coverage.

I use this helmet and i love it. The look and it's very comfortable. Can be set up for harder hitting positions and has great protection. Even when hitting it doesn't shift on your head like other helmets and it makes hits from the side seem like nothing.Great helmet!

I'm looking for a smaller type of facemask for the vengeance helmet I have a vengeance helmet but I don't really like it because of the facemask if you know any facemask tat are smaller let me know please

So I look like a bobble head? The helmet is big. It doesn't feel big. It's heavy and depending on how strong you are you may or may not feel the weight. Depending on how big you are you may or may not look like a bobble head.

If you're 18 you can't use a youth helmet. Sizing is the same it's the materials that are different. The helmet is not made to protect passed peewee levels of football.

Facemasks are by position not helmets. You can use any helmet you want.

I talk about visor fitting in the video, wide receivers may want a lighter helmet. Facemask is position specific helmets are not. Check my facemask video in the facemask playlist on my channel.

You also can by quarter turns on amazon if you really dont like the regular screws. Good video I feel like the ion weights the same but it is a higher stand off helmet because of the dct and is ranked up high for best protection next with the revo 360

They will be using all new metrics in 2014 because their test doesn't tell the full story. From experience I would put the vengeance above the 360 and Speed yet the test doesn't.

The weight and type of protection. Because youth aren't hitting each other nearly as hard as adults less protection is required and used to keep down the weight. Their little necks cannot run around with 5-6 lbs on it.

if the visor clips are in your line of sight, just take them off and use zipties or something else. It'll still hold the visor in place the same way

soccer cleats shouldn't be used for football. They are missing the toe cleat that enables quick acceleration and cutting.

I just bought the Riddell 360 and it was between 360 or vengeance i was going to wait for this review when the chance came up to get the helmet the review wasn't up yet. I was pretty bummed when you said the vengeance will protect you more (I'm coming off a concussion) so i was regretting the decision to get the 360. I was just wondering if you thought that the 360 will still protect me and if its a big difference, also what helmet will you be using for your season and why?

Also, its interesting that schutt downgraded shells in the youth line from poly to abs in their top youth helmet. Not sure why they ever made a poly youth shell(ion 4d youth) to start with. Seems kinda irresponsible to stick a poly helmet out there with all other shells being plastic. thanks, love your reviews

I have this helmet....feels great but if you have long locs like I do it takes a while to get the helmet adjusted right and the chin strap sucks...get the Under Armor one with the removable cushioning (mrinkredibul did a great view of it)

I just baught on I play college football. My XL little lose and a large is to tight. I have always worn an XL and this is the 1st one where it is a little lose any suggestion? I havent put air in it yet.
