Great review comparison. If I had to pick one , it would be the Treveris for reading. I have a variety of bibles that I can use for studying. When I try to just read the Bible, I find myself “going down the rabbit hole” with the footnotes etc. I think by using the Treveris, that would keep me focused on reading and absorbing the Word.

The Quentel format would be my preference if only one could sit on my shelf for day-to-day use. It's just better at being an all-around Bible to fit multiple use cases for the person diving into the Word. The formatting of the Quentel lends itself to being a good reader due to the large font and use of red & black text color to set apart chapter headings, etc. The Quentel can also play the role of a study Bible due to the textual notes and plethora of cross-references.

I’ve got a Caxton NLT in green and it’s a beauty. It’s very like the Cambridge Clarion to read. Hard to beat a clarion for clarity of a small type face, because if the wide interline spacing. I think they call that leading, from the lead spacers they used to insert to spread the type face out in the old fashioned printing method. Tempting to say “leed” but I suppose it’s “led” !

Thank you so much for this review!!! I love both Bibles! But for me the two columns Quentel is best for me because I like and need the study part of it. However, I absolutely love the full yap cover on the Treveris… I hope Schuyler can make more options of its Bibles with full yap features, it’s so beautiful and I think that it is a plus when protecting the pages. Maybe they should make a full yap on at least one of the personal sizes and also in o e of the Quentel series (maybe choosing some of the most popular versions, such as ESV, NKJ…).

Hi Tim, great video, thank you. Question, as l’m sure you know, Schuyler are planning on releasing a NASB ‘20 using the Treveris format latter this year, do you know which NASB translation Cambridge will use for their NASB Topaz, ‘95 or ‘20? I really like the Topaz format with all the extra stuff, but l already have plenty of ‘95’s. Again, thank you, l found this really helpful. Blessings John
@Tom-qo4mz3 жыл бұрын
just to clarify, my understanding is that the 2020 NASB Schuyler has said they will be putting out won't be a Treveris (which are single column paragraph) but rather single column vbv (that they have named the Stridon (if they've said they're doing an NASB 2020 Treveris and I've missed it, my apologies))
@timwildsmith3 жыл бұрын
Hey John… yes, the Stridon is the only NASB 2020 that Schuyler has announced, and it’s a bit different than the Treveris. Cambridge has not announced an NASB Topaz yet, so I’m not sure which edition they’ll go with.
@johnwilderspin16333 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, if you go to EB’s Stridon page you’ll find that this new Bible will be formatted the same way as the Treveris
@timwildsmith3 жыл бұрын
@@johnwilderspin1633, the Stridon will be single-column and use a similar font as the Treveris, but it’s not the same typesetting. It’s a verse-by-verse Bible where each verse starts on a new line (the Treveris is a paragraph “reader”), and it will include references (the Treveris does not).
@Tom-qo4mz3 жыл бұрын
@@johnwilderspin1633 that's not quite correct, it says the font will be the same/similar to the Treveris (in distinction to the Milo font used for the Quentels etc), but says it will be single column verse by verse format. The USP of the Treveris on the other hand is its single column paragraph format as a 'reader.' On this basis, the Stridon will likely be quite a different offering to the Treveris

I find it so unfortunate that we don't have similar publishers for french bibles. I prefer to read in french, but the quality of the binding is usually pretty low. The idea of not have subheadings in the text is making me want to switch directly to the treveris. Time to start saving for one!!

@pappywinky47493 жыл бұрын
@@timwildsmith there's a wealth of translations, our equivalent to the KJV is called louis second and it has 3-4 revisions that are all great. My favorite is Semeur (sower), a mix of ESV and NIV in terms of readability but with great fidelity. There's also several paraphrasing versions.
