I bought one as well in black and it is a big bible, but I think it’s perfect. I’m going to use it to comment and write notes, but the thickness doesn’t bother me. I love to 40gsm paper because it’s going to last a life time. If I would change anything it would be to replace the concordance with more lined paper. Schuyler knocked it out of the park I love this bible and I might buy one more.

I LOVE a very thick bible!! I have a great personal bible to go with me, but at home I love a really big bible. And, Jason, as someone who is over 50, there isn’t a font that’s too big! However, 11-12 is a sweet spot for me! 40 gsm sounds wonderful! I’m sold!! My b-day is in September, and I may get it early! Awesome review!!

I just got mine last Friday (Deep Purple). Like you, the bible was much larger than I had expected and heavy. Not exactly a carry everyday to church bible, but I love writing detailed notes and highlighting. I am sure I will love this bible. I actually do have the Crossway ESV Wide Margin and have written all over it. I highly recommend it. I did measure the difference between the Crossway and Schuyler margins. Using the left side, the Schuyler is 1 and 1/4" margin verses the Crossway at 1 inch. The inside margins are just the exact opposite of each other. In that sense, there is no real difference in margins. The Schuyler top margin is significantly more than the Crossway. I think your main observation about the number of words to a page is the most significant detail about the Schuyler . This is why it is so big and why it will be a good wide margin writing bible. I have the dilemma you do. I have really grown to love my Crossway ESV Wide margin, but I am still a big fan of NASB. I too just wish it wasn't so BIG! Good Review Jason.

The 14:16 "Look, I'm gettin' all Randy Brown over here" had my stomach hurting for awhile 😂. Here's another comparison: As thick as a Texas white pages 🤭😂. Too thick for me & the ironic thing is that I way prefer the NASB in a verse by verse format, especially for studying (so just imagine how thick *that* would be!) But I agree that I much, much prefer that 9.5 pt font to the original 11 pt, which was way too big when I tried one out (not enough words per line for a comfortable read). This looks a much better balance. It will be interesting to see which you end up with for your One bible in 2021, this or the non-wrist-spraining ESV Heirloom wide margin 😆. (Great vid!👍)

To be completely honest with you, I like the thicker Bibles. The fact that the pages are thick as well really appeals to me as well because I am just about as heavy-handed as someone can be. Although it isn’t my intention, I am usually rough on my Bibles. I am going to be starting my tearupyourbible reading plan tonight along with my devotional and another reading plan I am doing over on the YouVersion Bible app. I know I’m really late to the game on it but, I have just re-dedicated myself and I am looking forward to what God has in store for me from this point on. Bless you Jason!

Thank you SO much for this review! I have been saving for the Schuyler for a very long time, and have recently started to consider getting a Cambridge because it's less expensive. However, other than p Our family had a horrible trauma a few years ago, and I've realized I would like a 'fresh' Bible for a fresh word from the Lord. It's been a long road. I want a quality Bible, because I hope my thoughts, and what the Lord shows me, will minister to my family long after I am gone. You addressed that (longevity) in this video and I am so thankful. Blessings!

I enjoyed your review. The first I've seen by you. I have the Cambridge NASB WM , same edition as yours, for about 10 years now. The only Bible I write in. I'm tempted by this new Schuyler offering. I've got other editions by them, and they are certainly at the top of the heap. Your assessment of the type in the Pitt Minion was spot on. BTW, one of the things I love about the Cambridge, and I see it is the same with the Schuyler, is the wide margin at the gutter. The old Cambridge WMs were narrow at the gutter. My pastor has one of those and it is great that they changed it to wide on both margins.

I have the exact same bible. Same color as well. I bought the PSQ version for everyday carry due to the smaller size. In my opinion it is the most beautiful looking bible I’ve ever seen. Allen bible are nice as well but I’ll probably be using this wide margin along with matching PSQ for the rest of my life. My wrist aches after about 10 minutes of holding it in one hand which is why I bought the PSQ lol. Great review!!

Just got my black one today! Had been looking for a premium wide margin and this video sealed the deal for me. Big thanks to Jason for the informative and entertaining review. My last 3 bibles have all been study bibles (tyndale chronologic in kjv and nlt as well as esv study bible). In comparison, this bible is a little thinner and if you are used to study bibles it doesnt feel that big. It just depends on what you are used to. Craftsmanship is flawless and off the charts. 40 gsm paper is also great-doesnt feel as thick as i thought it would be though. Would definitely recommend and am excited to start tearing it up once i finish my current plan.

Great review. I got one back in June 2020. As I had to pre-order it I couldn't wait to get it. I really really like it. It's big, but I don't find it a negative necessarily. Since I got it though I have not written in it or highlighted in it or anything except read out of it. But I am trying to device a specific use for it and I think it may take me into deeper and deeper Bible study type of use for it. But I love that idea.

It think it's 'too thick.' But the only reason I say that is that in my current sleeker NASB quintel, Some chapters can be harder to write in and in the gutter because of the thickness/ how high up your hand is writing from the table. It's easier to write in a thinner bible because the pages are lower when the bible is laying open. (when using pigma microns)

Yes, a bit too thick for me as well. I have the KJV, and I was blown away by the quality of this thing. Not buying the NASB but when the NKJV comes out I may just loose my mind again. It's going be nice comparing it to the NKJV Wide Margin Premier coming in 2021. Thank you for your great reviews, humor and dynamic! NASB, PREMIUM, WIDE MARGIN... YEP, GOT MY ATTENTION! Yeah I agree, it’s kind of a thick Bible. It would be perfect if the Bible had a wider margin. Like 1.5 inch per side would be great. To me, that Bible would be perfect if it’s just a home Bible where you just write on, sketch with, read and highlight on, reflect with it, etc. It’s not really for preaching and traveling. The font is small for a preaching Bible. The original (the free one) you had is better for preaching and traveling, but not writing. I agree, that bible in Green cover would have made it look more exquisite! I love an emerald color, especially for a Bible. Because usual Bible colors are blue, black, maroon, brown. So having color green would make your bible stand out.

From the looks of it I would probably prefer mid 30's GSM and I would personally rather my wide margin be wider than thicker, if that makes sense. I would rather a square bible than a super thick brick. My daily tearer upper is the ESV Wide Margin and I love everything about it except, the pages are a little too thin. Would prefer, like I said, somewhere in between both of those bibles.

Fun review!😂😂😂 Which Bible is the green cover one you show on this video? It’s seems to be a wide-margin one also but smaller than the Schuyler one you’re reviewing. Is the green one also Schuyler?

You make a good case for the clarity of Schyler's font choice. Their typesetting has always caught my attention. I am still working my way through my first pass (I've barely started!) in my Cambridge NASB wide-margin and love the dimensions and the thickness of that Bible! I also use the Pitt Minion on a daily basis, especially as a Bible to read on my way to work. (The only trouble as you well know is that the font size of the PM is diabolically TINY!) That said, I have been toying with the idea of using a Schyler Quintel + Schyler PSQ as my "daily carry" at some point in the (distant) future. As far as thickness, I couldn't see myself traveling with either the PSQ or that wide-margin, although I typically don't travel with my wide-margin at all. It just stays parked for the most part in my study space in my house. I could imagine that being a different story for a fulltime student, teacher or preacher!
@bbenkert4 жыл бұрын
I tried the Quentel and PSQ option but the PSQ is really thick for being so small. Great font and feels amazing in my hand. Then my wife confiscated it. I sent the Quentel back and purchased a Topaz. I love that bible. The Cambridge wide margin is my go to study Bible and my pitt is my most used but its falling apart and I have a hard time reading it for long periods. Im replacing it with a thinline Heirloom.

Father, Son, Holy Bible and worship the Book more than the Author in an unhealthy way and see no power in their lives. I love a nice Bible but I’m gonna put it to use and write in it and USE it!!!

@@TomPlantagenet I appreciate your opinion, but would argue that the Scribes actually are an integral part of the reliability and accuracy of our Old Testament Biblical Text, and that the Messiah himself held them to a very high standard when he said "For I say to you that unless your righteousness far surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." (Mt 5:20). So, I'm still happy calling mine "The Scribe" :)
