Thank you for the great reviews. Do you prefer the leather on the imperial blue goatskin or the black pearl calfskin? And why?

Thank you for the kind words 😉 Great question! If I can choose, I normally prefer a cover that is less flexible, I like them more sturdy. Normally, the calfskin from Schuyler is a bit less flexible than the goatskin, at least that's what I've experienced with the Marbled Mahogany leather from Schuyler. However, the black pearl calfskin, to my surprise, was more flexible and very comparable to the flexibility of the goatskin (still high quality and very resistant so no complaints). My imperial blue goatskin happens to be thick and really nice, so I love it. In terms of aesthetics, I really love both. If I could chose only one based on the color of the cover, I would probably go with the black pearl at this point. I hope this helps... Sorry for rambling a bit.

Hi there, that is a great question! I love both, to be honest. The Marbled Mahogany Calfskin, at least the copies I have reviewed and the one I own (Stridon), normally have a thicker and less flexible leather than the Black Pearl Calfskin on this particular Bible. This one (Black Pearl) looks a bit more exquisite, I would say, with a really beautiful grain and natural look, the Marbled Mahogany feels a bit more sturdy and roughed. I actually love and prefer less flexible covers, generally speaking, so if I had to choose one to be my main Bible and workhorse I would probably go with the Marbled Mahogany, but as I said, I really love them both of them and I'm happy I don't need to make that decision right now. I'm still using my imperial blue goatskin ;)

@@user-ko7gt2cv1e Yeah, this color is sold out at this point. They normally take some time to reprint them... Maybe check in a few months, or you can perhaps email them. There's also some Facebook groups where premium Bible lovers buy and sell their Bibles... You might get lucky and find one there.

Bummer, I will check back… but I’m also tempted to go with a marbled mahogany in nkjv, and pick up a pearled black in niv later on as these are my two favorite translations which I switch back forth on and I think it would be an awesome contrasting set 😁
