What about patching and sealants? Are they compatible?
@basf4 жыл бұрын
In case of a flat hose the tube can be easily repaired with special adhesive tapes (like a plaster). The adhesive tapes are already in the market and suitable for thermoplastic and rubber tubes. No other special patching or sealant kits are needed. For further details please also visit schwalbe.com/aerothan/en

I purchased 3 tubes from the Schwalbe website. Trying one on my front wheel I noticed first that the valve stem diameter is larger and would not fit in my Dura-Ace rim without using a file to enlarge the hole. Next I noticed once inflated to the same PSI (80 lbs.), it is much stiffer than the other tire which has a latex tube. Not sure how this is going to play out in terms of bike handling. My fear is since the tire is so hard now it will cut easier, like back in the day when I used to inflate my tires to 110 to 120 PSI. I used to get flats a lot. Up sizing to 25C and lowering my pressures to 80 PSI has really cut down on the amount of flats I get these days. It will be interesting to see if your claims hold any truth and if not I will go back to Latex tubes because at $30 a tube the only way it would be worth using these is if I get even fewer flats.

Thanks for your comment about your first experience with the Aerothan tubes. The valve diameter of the Aerothan tube is specified to 6.1mm and fits to the majority of rims, which have a standard valve hole diameter of >6.3mm. If the valve stem doesn’t fit into the rim, it’s recommended to screw off the valve core and try it again. The valve stems expands minimal due to the valve core and shrinks a bit by demounting the valve core. Please consider to the tighten the valve core after the installation again. The material of the Aerothan tube has a high surface tension and feels stiffer at high pressure in comparison to Butyl or Latex tubes. Therefore, it is recommended to decrease the pressure to values, that are normally used for tubeless systems. Depending on your system-weight, a pressure of 80psi sounds very reasonable and will increase riding performance a lot. Please feel free to ask in terms of any other question: info@schwalbe.com

Kann der Schlauch mit CO2 Patronen befüllt werden?
@basf2 жыл бұрын

I live in the desert and because of large stickers we run sealant inside our tubes. Are these TPU tubes compatible current (2021) sealants? Thanks
@basf3 жыл бұрын
The Aerothan tubes are not recommended to use with tubeless tire sealant. TPU material does have a higher surface tension compared to Butyl tubes and the sealant won’t work properly. Moreover, depending on the ingredients of the sealant, there could be a chemical reaction that weakens the material properties of the Aerothan tube.

Getting my Aerothan race tubes this Tuesday, putting high hopes and trust in them coming from an unpleasant experience with Tubolitos. As I understand the Aerothans will hold their shape even if the carcass is damaged. Tubolitos blew like a soft gun. Fortunately it happened on flat after descending a pass.

how is it going so far?,, have u already got a flat or u all good?
@skorpio3204 жыл бұрын
@@markelnar2546 I got them installed but since the weather here in south Germany is rather terrible atm my bike stays on the trainer inside. So far they’re holding up 😂 what I can say though is that they keep air just as good as butyl. Installation was easier than Tubolito, plus I love the back valves compared Ro the orange ones on tubolito. Can’t wait for spring!

I would like a similar tubes for my motorcycle, since it uses tube tires.

I will forward your suggestion to my colleagues as inspiration for future products.

first flat after 50km , i admit it was sting, or nail .. so I can check if patching works properly .. LOL .. but before that riding experience was great before that happened
@basf4 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Well if it's a nail, the best tube won't help. And a tube made out of steel would'nt be comfortable ;-) We hope you were able to fix it and weren't stuck somewhere in nowhere...

Does the new Elastollan Material keep the Co2 Gas? The gas which you put it in with CO2 Cadriges. Normal tubes like Schwalbe Extra light looses the gas over time! Ach noch was Jungs! Wenn ihr doch alle drei Native Deutschsprecher seid. Das schwatzt doch halt auf Deutsch und macht nen Untertitel drunter!

Of course the Aerothan tubes can be filled with CO2. In terms of keeping the air within the tube there is no difference between CO2 and air. After the initial filling with a cartridge the air pressure has to be trimmed with a conventional bicycle tire inflator.
