In case you're wondering about the name of the donut place, the namesake of it, Stan Mikita, was an NHL player for many years. This is a bit of a reference to Tim Hortons', a Canadian donut chain that was started by a Toronto Maple Leafs legend of the same name. Considering this movie takes place mostly in the Chicago area, Mike Myers, who is from Toronto himself, decided to name it after a Chicago Blackhawks legend.

So one factor in them having so much good music in this might be that being the weekly Musical Guest on Saturday Night Live was a good gig for musicians to play and this was a Saturday Night Live movie. The music industry probably didn't want to burn bridges by saying no. The three different endings were inspired by a similar stunt from the movie for the board game Clue which had appeared a few years earlier. If you found the blatant product placements in the "We won't sell out to Sponsors" scene funny, the movie Josie and the Pussycats takes that concept and cranks it to 11. (I mention this because at the time, some professional critics entirely missed the point the Josie movie was trying to make by oversaturating the product placements to absurd levels.) It's also got a banging soundtrack.

Lorne Michaels wanted the rocking out in the car scene to feature a song by a more current band (namely, Guns n Roses), but Mike Myers had his mind set on Queen, and stood his ground, to the point of being willing to walk out on the movie. It was a wise choice, and I’m glad he was so stubborn.

Vincent Fournier/Alice Cooper is a historian, so he loved playing in this thing. 5. He is also a surprisingly good golfer and I've had the privilege of seeing him in concert twice 6. Great reaction Nia like always, love this movie! I used to watch "Wayne's World" skits on SNL before this movie came out. They were quite popular skits. Dana Carvey was the king of SNL in my mind. I think this is a major reason why "Bohemian Rhapsody" had such a resurgence. Random fact: I think a vacuum hair cutter was a real and viable product you could buy. Freddie Mercury managed to watch a copy of this video before his untimely death, he loved seeing Mike Myers and Dana Carvey headbang to his hit song Bohemian Rhapsody. Dana Carvey based Garth in his brother, who he maintains is the kind of guy who could disassemble a toaster and turn it into a computer. Also, that is really him playing the drums, Dana is a pretty good drummer. Keep up the good work.
