The last professor moore story you read caused me to wake the household and the neighbors at two am due to my laughter. I was a physics teacher. I’m looking forward to this one. Prof. Moore deserves tenure and a lab, plus a research budget.

Claymores and howitzers, two of the best biggest weapons that humanity made- the former that is the oversized version of a great sword, and the latter was some of the most massive artillery of its time.

@@randomguy3080 The real question is what DON'T we do! Fruit flies are used as the model organism for almost everything genetic. We've grown legs where eyes should be, for example, to study HOX genes and how different body parts know where to grow.

I didn't think Clippy survived past Windows 95. Surprised at how many people have been terrorized by him. Either I'm wrong with Clippy's lifespan, or this audience is full of old farts like me, or Clippy's reputation lives on like a horror story told from generation to the next.

@ 10:36 I frequently find things like Clippy, or Cortana to be invasive, and not at all helpful. I would rather work with something that offers no help at all. Back when I worked with TeX I loved it. I could type my raw document, then put in the formatting instructions later. The newer word processors tend to make those decisions for you. After that, it is a royal pain to go back and put your own formatting in. My biggest problem was, they put in standard business formats, and not military formats. I frequently had work sent back to me because I overlooked something. I generally turn off auto format capability.

1:45 Prof. Clay Moor knows a Dr. Hal Witzer. It would be awesome if they also know an engineer by the name of Thomas (Tommy) Gunn. Bonus points, the surname Gunn is Scottish, so the archetypal accent for engineers can still be used. Keep the theme going in this story with every named human we encounter having names that sound like weapons, especially if they're just average professionals and not necessarily soldiers.

So much for "higher" learning. I learned the basics of cell structure in middle school and a fair deal more in high school. I graduated in 1973. I would think a society that existed on a galactic level would have this knowledge at a minimum, even if they didn't "fool around" with modifying it.

I get the feeling that all these problems the principal is dealing with stems from some kind of communication issue. Not sure if the professor has some kind of universal translator that takes physical ques into consideration or not, but clearly the problem for everything starts at a fundamental level. It’s all highly amusing.

Time flies like the wind fruit flies like bananas. 3:47 What's the bet that the sentient plant species who smells like bananas attracts fruit flies like humans attract mosquitoes and blackflies. Also, grafting rarely alters the genetic structure of the plant. It does offer the genetic chemical production capacity of the combined plants, and may help activate given genes in either. However, if a cutting of either is taken and rooted or sprouted as its own plant will indeed remain unaltered from the original donor plant that the grafting was made from.
