This has been my favorite story since I found a battered copy at my local library in the mid 90's. Those heartbreaking stories... He's at his best in this series.

I usually recommend to stop at fall of Hyperion and leave it at that. The Endymion books were really disappointing. Hyperion however, is one of the greatest books ever written, be it any genre

The first two Hyperion books are some of my favourite sci fi, but to be honest I found the Endymion books underwhelming. Not sure why, it might just be the expectation or possibilities that existed purely in my head, the inevitable "disappointing resolution to a mystery".

I liked two Hyperion books, Endymion not so much. Orphans of the Helix is interesting story as much as I remember. I will have to re-read it.

Thanks Darrel, I've never read Orphans or the Helix & I was interested what happens next... Did you by any chance read David Zindell's Neverness quartet ( also known as A Requiem for Homo Sapiens seriers ) ? That's most similar ( beautiful & colorful ) universe to Hyperion & came out about same time ....if not , I obviously highy recommend it...

This might sound crazy but I remember being crusified and it gave me power over all 9 realms. And I remember being Hyperion Cantos from Dune El Shaddai Metatron getting my Metatron was difficult but my father the Shrike guided me. And yes I'm and Orphan or Orphanim like in the Bible. See can you connect the dots 😂it's simple so is the universe. See I welded my soul to this earth because no room in heaven for us orphans. But that is fine. We love you all. But your all in for a treat on this planet. 616 we are from planet 712. Nice to meet you. See our souls can't die and we only get stronger traveling through time and space in the soul form. 😂 Simple the planets are our Shakira systems. But before you think you can get your Metatron's cube. Think about this you have to willing be crusified 😂 good luck only a few can do this. I'm one and I marked my name out of the book of death and crawled out of hell many times. Yes I'm a tortured soul

I couldn't get through the first book in the cantos. It was just incredibly boring and over complicated. I hope there's a movie adaptation that will do the series justice, kinda like Foundation on Apple+. Great video though.
