When the H&S people get to hear about XRF instruments, they will require training courses and insurance cover for operators! Try pointing one at a Geiger counter and see what happens.

@@SciAps I'm thinking of the "green" H&S bureaucrats in Europe! Have you ever heard them talk of the "precautionary principle"? Mercury fillings, glyphosate weedkiller, fluoride in drinking water, artists' pigments, spray-on iodine antiseptic, thorium mantles even a school kit to demonstrate radioactive decay using Ba137m, and samples of uranium minerals are all on their forbidden list. An XRF producing ionising radiation will surely come to their notice some day, let's hope it is not soon!
