Drop sets should be done as 3 sets of 3 drop sets, if your goal is to build muscle.

It"s a good preparation for people doing sports in the lactate threshold zone like 800 m runs or rowing.

intensity is always a key. Are you failing before you drop the wt or dropping it at a set number?,

Normal drop sets would get at least _close_ to failure on each set. The main argument I've seen for drop sets isn't that they are superior, _per se._ Rather, it is that a lot of volume-near-failure can be obtained, with much reduced time by resting very little between sets; ie, you can get a great workout with a lot less time spent in the gym.

What lat pulldown machine is that? Never seen a combination of cable and lever before. Seems like it would be best of both worlds (freedom of movement of a cable pulldown with resistance curve of a lever pulldown). Have been looking for lat pulldowns for my home gym.

2 sets with dropsets in the them is the best. I swear you can get out of the gym 45 mins.

No, very risky to just jump to a max weight when it gets bigger. You have to be warmed up, and going up in weights, even in few reps is much better practice. If you bench big weights coming in to the gym from your car, you will fail at the lift by just not being stretched, and can get hurt.
